We had a great meeting today. We received an update from one of the students who attended RYLA. It was great to hear about a great youth leadership event put on by Rotary. We also discussed how the club can help fund projects from our Interact club at Cuyahoga Falls High School with their own projects helping their community. RYLA (Rotary Youth Leadership Awards) is an intensive leadership training program for young people. It is organized locally by Rotary clubs and districts worldwide. In Rotary, District 6630 covers Northeast Ohio, USA, where they organize a highly successful annual youth leadership retreat known as Camp RYLA. On August 18th we’ll meet our two 2026 campers from Cuyahoga Falls High School, Mayya Sharma and Dominic DeRita. By the way, Mayya is the current President of our Interact Club at CFHS. They’ll share their RYLA experience and happily answer your questions about both RYLA and Interact.

On August 11th we’ll be enjoying another Member Spotlight. For those of you who are newer to the club, these programs are thoroughly enjoyed by all. We’ll start the monthly meetings on August 4th featuring William (Bill) Leahy. Among other hats that he wears, Bill is a Director at the Peter Maurin Center. This is a little known local organization providing gratefully appreciated assistance to those in need. We have a member who has passionately volunteered her time there for quite some time. I think this one will surprise you.

Today at our Cuyahoga Falls Rotary meeting, we rolled up our sleeves and completed a meaningful service project!

Under the guidance of President Taylor and Kathie Crabtree, members spent our luncheon time packing drawstring backpacks with essential items for women supported by Rahab Ministries.
Rahab provides safe, non-judgmental outreach, drop-in homes, and mentoring for people affected by s*x trafficking in our community.

This hands-on project is part of our summer commitment to complete 250 Acts of Kindness.

Thank you to Bethany Miller for sharing Rahab’s mission with us, and to everyone who brought donations and showed up ready to serve. Small acts, big impact.

On July 28th, President Taylor and Kathie Crabtree will be guiding us in a “hands-on” service project during our allotted luncheon time. This will be a part of our pledge to provide 250 “Acts of Kindness” over the summer months.
The organization benefiting from this initiative is Rahab Ministries. Among other important services, RAHAB provides safe, non-judgmental services to people affected by s*x trafficking through Outreach, Drop-In Homes, and mentoring. That is the focus of our service project! Join us for an in-meeting service project as we partner with Rahab Ministries to assemble care kits for women in our community. Bethany Miller will share more about Rahab’s mission, and then we’ll pack drawstring backpacks with essential items. Donations should be brought to our July 28th meeting.

Today, the Cuyahoga Falls Rotary Club was honored to welcome Rebecca Cool, Chief Executive Officer of Victim Assistance Program, as our guest speaker.

Rebecca shared the vital work her organization does to empower our community by supporting and restoring the lives of individuals impacted by crisis, violence, and tragedy. Her presentation served as a powerful reminder of the importance of compassion, advocacy, and access to resources for those facing some of life’s most difficult moments.

Thank you, Rebecca, for sharing your expertise and for the incredible work the Victim Assistance Program does to make a lasting difference in our community. 💙
