Our paramedics don’t get enough photo love on social media. Simply out of privacy concerns for our patients. However, they truly do heroic work each an everyday they report to work. L330 paramedics and fire fighters have been stationed around the course. This mornings incident gave a very public view of how hard our personnel work everyday for complete strangers.
While details of this incident will be released later, we are sending our prayers to the patient and family.
Thank you to 330ToGO for reporting.
Shout out to the Akron Fire Department that just made a save at the finish line of the Akron Marathon. A male runner was in severe distress. After CPR was administered he was moving upon departure. We don't know who it was, but prayers for recovery.
The crowd cheered for AFD upon departure.
1:30PM More info Update: Now that I'm home and have had a moment to process what we just saw, I'd like to also shout out the first responders on scene before AFD was able to respond. I believe they were a team from Summa headed up by Dr. Shah. They were running all over the place. Specific shout out to the man in the white shirt that was giving chest compressions before the AED arrived.
This took place in front of hundreds of spectators. Folks truly watched a life being saved in real time and it shook up a lot of people.
