Calling all young people! - If you want to improve your community then we have an opportunity for you.
Apply for the Mayor's Youth Climate Action Fund (YCAF) today! This is a new initiative funded by Bloomberg Philanthropies to empower Akron youth to design and implement projects that improve their community while also gaining valuable leadership and workforce experience.
If you're between the ages of 15-24, you can apply for the program and earn a microgrant ranging from $1,000 to $5,000 to help support, develop, and implement your projects. Youth teams must include at least 2 people and must apply with an eligible fiscal sponsoring organization that would receive the microgrant award on their behalf and support their implementation efforts.
Selected teams will receive funding and mentorship from City staff, fiscal sponsoring organizations, and local community leaders to implement their projects. They'll also showcase their completed projects alongside Mayor Malik and other city leaders in April 2027. Youth-led applications will be accepted August 3 through September 14, 2026.
Do you have an idea but aren't sure how to connect with an organization? Are you an organization who would like to get involved but not sure how to connect with a youth team? Email [email protected] and we can help get you connected!
Special thanks to United Cities and Local Governments, Bloomberg Center for Public Innovation at Johns Hopkins University, & C40 Cities!
