This weeks Meet The Team Monday is our Aero Composites lead Joey Shanahan!

Joey is a 3rd year Mechanical Engineering Technology major, and he is in charge of designing and manufacturing the wings for our car, he spends a lot of time in the composites room usually helping fix the wings when they break. You can usually find him playing soccer or working on his minibike.

On today's Meet The Team Monday we have our Chassis Composites lead Joshua stiffler!

Josh is in charge of making the carbon composite chassis for the car, that means cutting and laying up the carbon fiber for the main body of the car. Josh is also a huge football fan and likes to play card games frome time to time (oh and he definitely didn't eat any strawberry chapstick as a kid.)

This Week Meet the Team Monday is our Chassis Lead, Anthony Marimpietri

Anthony is a 3rd year Mechanical Engineering major. Tony is in charge of designing and manufacturing our fully carbon fiber monocoque He spends most of his evenings creating test panels, prepping chassis molds, and cutting himself while cutting honeycomb. You can often find him on top of the table in our composites room.

Tabling at The National Museum of the U.S. Air Force was a huge success! 🏎️🚀

The Akron Rocket Team and Zips Racing teamed up for Rocket Day at the museum! We had the opportunity to talk with so many people and get them interested in joining the design teams at Akron. We also got to take some photos with some of the incredible aircraft on display!

It was great meeting everyone who stopped by and showed interest in what we do. A huge thank you to the National Museum of the U.S. Air Force for having us! ✈️

For this weeks Meet The Team Monday, we have our Manufacturing Lead Nick Kasik!

Nick is a 4th year Mechanical Engineering maior and his iob as Machining Lead is to make sure all of the parts for our car are made within our very own machine shop. He has the task of machining over 90% of the parts on the car (with some help of course). He spends a lot of his days breaking bits and spending a few too many hours on the lathe. If he's not in the machine shop he's probably practicing his golf swing, taking selfies on different people's phones, or playing Minecraft.

Reese will be running for hoco court representing the team! Voting opens Wednesday 9/23 @ 8am and closes Sunday 9/27 @ 11:59pm. You will get an email in your uakron email to vote (make sure to check spam folder). If she get on hoco court there will be a chance to pie her at the hoco cookout!

This weeks Meet the Team Monday is our Energetics Lead, Matthew Blankenship!

Matt is a 4th year Mechanical Engineering major and is in charge of building and managing the electrical systems in the car. His job is to make sure our high voltage battery gets built, check that the electrical boards work, and much more! You can often find him riding his Barbie scooter or researching something cool to put on it (He definitely hasn't crashed it before) Overall, Matt is a very entertaining guy, who likes to add slightly dangerous features to his personal projects.

This Meet The Team Monday is Andre Lehman our Vehicle Dynamics lead!

Andre is a 5th year Mechanical Engineering maior and is in charge of all of our vehicle dynamics! His job is Optimizing track performance through advanced vehicle modeling and simulation, leading the vehicle dynamics team to maximize tire grip, design high-performance suspension systems, and figure out what all the data from the car mean. He also gets us some pretty cool videos with his drone flying skills (he definitely hasn't crashed it).

This weeks Meet The Team Monday is our Administrative Lead, Reese Scott!

Reese is a 3rd year dual major in Marketing and Sales Management. She is in charge of managing the financial, travel, and university relations for the team. She lives spending money on new camera equipment, she is always talking about her dog Millie (although maybe not so much Ben's cat Mrs Meow), And is a proud owner of her red mini Cooper.
