Spreading the warmth is a community effort! 🧤🧣

Akron Snow Angels was proud to provide coats, hats, scarves and gloves to support the VAF Health and Wellness Foundation’s Annual Coat Giveaway at Mason Community Center last weekend.

The event served 51 families and distributed 179 coats! Each one means someone in our community will be a little warmer as temperatures drop.

A heartfelt thank-you to Shirley A Finney and the VAF team for bringing everyone together and making sure these winter essentials reached families who needed them. We’re grateful to work alongside community partners who share our passion for caring for our neighbors.

And to our donors: your generosity reaches beyond our missions. Through partnerships like this, you help us spread the warmth even further! 💛

A heartfelt thank-you to Family & Community Services and AxessPointe Community Health Centers, now united as one organization, for supporting Hope in the Heat!

A special shoutout to Nikki Clounie and the team for bringing dental services, donations, and compassionate community resources directly to our guests.

For people experiencing homelessness or hardship, accessing dental care and other support can be challenging. By meeting people where they are, your team helped remove barriers and made our guests feel welcomed, valued, and cared for.

We appreciate the many ways you serve individuals and families with dignity and kindness. Thank you for helping us care for the whole person and being such a committed community partner! 🦷💛

A huge thank-you to City Cleaners for donating more than 300 rolls of toilet paper for Hope in the Heat! 💙

It may not be the most glamorous donation, but it’s an everyday essential that many of us take for granted. Their generosity helped us meet a real need for individuals and families experiencing hardship.

Did you know City Cleaners is also a drop-off location for Akron Snow Angels? If you have winter coats or blankets to donate that need cleaning first, you can drop them off at one of their locations. They’ll dry clean them and get them to us so they’re ready to help someone stay warm!

We love when organizations and businesses recognize how they can use their own skills and resources to help even more. City Cleaners does exactly that. Giving someone a clean, warm coat can mean the world—it offers comfort, dignity, and a reminder that someone cares.

When you need dry cleaning, please consider supporting the business that does so much to support others. The City Cleaners team deserves our support, and choosing City Cleaners is a simple way to show them that their kindness matters.

Thank you for finding so many ways to spread the warmth! 💙

Thank you to Summit County Public Health for providing lifesaving naloxone kits at Hope in the Heat.

Their donation included keychain kits and additional regular-dose kits. Making naloxone accessible equips people to respond during an opioid overdose and can mean the difference between life and death.

We are grateful for your knowledgeable & compassionate team and your continued commitment to harm reduction and the health of our entire community. 💛

A very special thank-you to Tim Fitzwater of Fitzwater Photography - Cuy Falls for once again donating his time and talent to photograph Hope in the Heat!
📸
For more than a decade, Tim has helped Akron Snow Angels tell the story of our work through his photographs and videos. On our missions, he is thoughtful about the photos he takes, respecting each person’s privacy and protecting their identity unless they want to be photographed—and some are truly excited to pose for him!
❄️
At our events, Tim always seems to capture the best moments: the smiles, the connections and the kindness that make these days so special. His photographs help our community see the heart behind our mission.
😇
Thank you, Tim, for the care you bring to your work and for continuing to show up for us and the people we serve! Even though you aren’t in pictures, Erin Victor always makes you take that selfie for proof!!!🤳🏼

A refreshing thank-you to Eb's Soda Shop and owners John and Rachel Ebner for hosting a donation drive for Hope in the Heat….. and to everyone who contributed! Together, you provided 300 reusable water bottles for our guests. 💧

Staying hydrated matters so much during the summer. These bottles gave our guests something they could refill and keep using long after the event.

We’re grateful to John, Rachel, and everyone who donated for helping us meet such a practical need!

Check out their upcoming events and support them!💙

A heartfelt thank-you to the Junior League of Akron for donating women’s personal-care and menstrual products for Hope in the Heat!

The Junior League has made addressing period poverty a focus of its work in Greater Akron. Since fall 2023, its members and community supporters have provided more than 4,000 packs containing a month’s supply of period products to local agencies.

These essentials can be expensive and difficult to access for women experiencing homelessness or hardship. Having them available at Hope in the Heat helped us meet a deeply personal need with privacy, respect and dignity.

Thank you, Junior League of Akron, for bringing that same care to the women we serve and for continuing your tradition of women working together to strengthen our community! ❤️

Nothing brings out smiles quite like an ice cream truck! A big thank-you to The Dreamsicle Ice Cream Truck for joining us at Hope in the Heat and serving refreshing treats to our guests.

This special surprise gave children and adults a fun moment to enjoy during a very hot summer day.

Hope in the Heat is about meeting essential needs, but it is also about creating happiness and reminding every person that they matter. Thank you for helping us do both! 💙
