Please let me, briefly, introduce myself. I am the Founder of Better Outcomes.
My secular name is: Louis Herschel Kraus. My spiritual name is Avraham Tzvi. Avraham means “father of many” and Tzvi is a “Male Deer”. The significance of the deer’s horns reminds us that there is a time for protecting your family and a time when you can show them how to be at peace with the rest of the beings in your world.
I have a master's degree in social work administration and experience teaching Sunday school. Professionally, I have worked as a Parole Officer with adult parolees and probationers, drug addicts and the mentally ill. My Father was in the nursing home business, so when I left the Parole Authority, I joined the family business. At that time, this was a 42-bed facility he bought from a friend. Eventually, we built and operated a 100-bed building which opened in May 1987. When my parents retired and passed away, I became the sole owner/operator. As the industry changed, I was forced to retire because, as insurance and staffing costs went up, I was more concerned about the residents, than becoming wealthy. My last day of work was November 30, 2005.
My primary area of interest is communication. I grew up understanding that speaking badly to people was unacceptable. In my tradition, we called it “evil speech”. My first project, post-employment, was as essay titled, “Communication, How It Works; or Doesn’t”. After that, I founded Better Outcomes, 501© 3, to teach people how to speak more nicely. I also got involved with several civility groups in Ohio and met many people who share my concerns.
