Although the State of the Shelter Breakfast has passed, we still want to share the powerful story of Alice Scott, recipient of the Lynn M. Budnick Empowered Woman Award.
Alice entered the ACCESS shelter in 2023 after relocating to Akron to escape domestic violence. During this time, she endured the loss of her son, a devastating house fire, and a custody battle for her nephews while caring for her children and grandson. Since completing the program, she has been permanently housed with a thriving family. Aliceβs resilience in overcoming profound adversity makes her the epitome of an empowered woman. π
