This is what community looks like!! Well done, kiddos!

Here is a special story I am proud to share with the community. Sam Donohue’s teacher encouraged his family not to buy him gifts, but instead to let Sam use that money to do something meaningful for others.
As a member of two different soccer clubs, Liberty FC and Revere Soccer Club, Sam chose to give back in a way that relects his love for the game. He purchased 25 soccer balls and donated them to the Akron Inner City Soccer Club.
I am incredibly grateful for Sam’s generosity, kindness, and thoughtful spirit. This act of giving is a wonderful example of leadership, compassion, and the positive impact young athletes can make in their community.

Thanks to WAOH-TV, we were able to have our first away day watch party of the season at Missing Falls! Thanks to all who came. We will be doing it again, oh yes we will.

Each June supporters groups throughout North America work with Prideraiser to raise funds and awareness for local LGBTQ+ organizations. In 2026 RCU is once again partnering with the Bayard Rustin LGBTQ+ Resource Center (part of the Akron AIDS Collaborative).

How it works is this - we're asking supporters and friends to pledge $1 (or more) for each goal that Akron City scores during the fundraising period (May 30 - July 11). Once the campaign is over you will receive an email from us directing you to the Rustin Center donation page where you will fulfill your pledge. All funds raised go directly to the Rustin Center, not to RCU, ACFC, or Prideraiser. The better the team does, the better the support!

The vision of the Rustin Center is to elevate advocacy efforts for individuals living with HIV/AIDS and the LGBTQ+ community at large. As the only statewide LGBTQ+ drop-in facility, the Rustin Center provides a range of services including testing, housing referrals, mental health support, anti-violence programs, a food pantry, clothing closet, community meals, and discussions. Their compassionate team is committed to creating a welcoming environment where everyone can access the support they need to thrive.
