The Kingdom Leadership Alliance (KLA) is a community and network of Christ-followers holistically trained in ministry to the margins, marketplace, and neighborhoods of cities in Northeast Ohio. The KLA trains leaders to collectively address the pain, concerns, issues, opportunities, and capacities of their city through both our KLA School of Urban Leadership, as well as Leadership Development Work
shops. These training initiatives are designed to engage leaders in their current areas of influence, focus on relevant and often difficult topics (i.e. race and culture, functional unity, politics, economics, poverty alleviation, mission, charity, etc.), and develop practical skills for Christ-centered, transformational leadership. The KLA connects leaders through our Local Network. The Local Network acts a convener and connector for leaders to come together and sharpen one another, lament, heal, and care for each other. It also acts as a space for collaborative efforts and an engine for best practices to be transmitted across the region. Born out of a community development corporation and church, the KLA is a program of the Akron Leadership Foundation. It is directed by a diverse group of leaders with over 50 years of combined experience doing capacity-building work through asset-based community development. The ultimate goal of the KLA, therefore, is not just to equip and connect individual leaders, but to develop, strengthen, and sustain the organizations these leaders represent – organizations that make up the basal layer and connective fabric of our region. We have seen this grassroot approach to city transformation lead to long-term systemic change.
