Akron Metropolitan Housing Authority AMHA provides safe and decent affordable housing for low-income residents in the Akron area.

The Akron Metropolitan Housing Authority provides affordable housing options to approximately 10,000 households throughout Summit County. Our public housing program consists of over 4,000 apartments and single family homes that receive federal rental subsidies for low income families as well as disabled and elderly individuals. In addition, AMHA owns and/or manages over 800 apartments that are fed

erally subsidized and/or financed with low income housing tax credits or tax-exempt bonds. AMHA also administers rental subsidy to over 5,000 households through the Housing Choice Voucher Program. AMHA works in partnership with may public and private entities to help strengthen our community. By investing in partnerships, we are better able to address the basic needs of our residents and create opportunities for self-sufficiency and a better quality of life. As the need for affordable housing continues to grow, with over 22,000 applicants on our waiting lists, we will continue to invest in education, employment and the needs of the elderly and disabled.

Thank you to everyone who joined us for our Down Payment Assistance Initiative Information Session!

It was truly inspiring to see so many residents taking steps toward their homeownership goals. Attendees had the opportunity to learn about available resources from Portage Community Bank, Habitat for Humanity of Summit County, and East Akron Neighborhood Development Corporation (EANDC), ask questions, and gain valuable information about the path to purchasing a home 🏠✨

Drumroll, please… 🥁 The Blimp Day map is officially HERE! This Saturday, June 6, both Goodyear Blimps will be cruising over all 24 of our neighborhoods. They’ll loop around in a big spiral through each section, so no matter where you are, you’ll have a great chance to spot them. Keep your eyes on the sky—it’s going to be a blast!

Our first event of the summer at The Gathering Space was filled with laughter, music, and community. Thanks to our partnership with SRINA Tea House & Cafe., attendees enjoyed free food, a hands-on spring roll activity, and a beautiful afternoon by the lake connecting with friends, family, and neighbors.
