Every young reader deserves someone in their corner.

Someone who listens.

Someone who encourages.

Someone who gives them enough time to figure it out.

And someone who reminds them that progress doesn’t have to happen all at once.

Our reading mentors don’t do the work for our young readers.

They create the space, encouragement and consistency that help children discover what they can do for themselves. 💛

📚 Choosing something a little more challenging.

😊 Smiling after realizing, “I did it.”

The biggest moments don’t always look big from the outside.

But every small success gives a young reader another reason to believe in what they can do.

One of our favorite things to see isn’t a perfect reading score.

It’s the moment a young reader starts believing:

“I can do this.”

Maybe the word takes two tries.

Maybe the sentence takes three.

Maybe they stop, think and start again.

That persistence matters.

Because every time a child works through something difficult, they aren’t just practicing reading.

They’re building confidence in themselves. 💛

A new month. Another page to turn. 📖

This summer, our young readers practiced skills, explored new stories, asked questions and discovered just how much they are capable of doing.

But confidence doesn’t end when a program does.

It grows every time a child picks up another book.

Every time they try a difficult word.

Every time someone encourages them to keep going.

This October, we’re celebrating the moments that help young readers see themselves differently:

As readers. As thinkers. As kids who can. 💛

Something is taking shape. 📖💙

The Queen’s Project began with a love of reading and a belief in what becomes possible when children have people in their corner.

That story continues to grow.

Through words.
Through sound.
Through creativity.
Through community.

We’re not ready to share everything yet.

But at Booksgiving, our volunteers may get a glimpse of what’s ahead. 👀

Before there was The Queen’s Project, there was The Queen and Me. 💙

Marion F. Walker believed in books.

But even more, she believed in children.

That belief shaped our founder, Lannetta, long before The Queen’s Project existed.

Today, Marion’s legacy isn’t simply an organization bearing her name.

It’s visible when a young reader chooses a book.

When they try again.

When they discover something new.

When they begin to say:

“I’m a reader.”

Marion’s story helped begin this one.

The children are writing what comes next. 📚💙

This fall, we’ll bring some of those people together for Booksgiving—our celebration of the community surrounding The Queen’s Project.

Book Tastings and Stories & Sweets give children room to explore, choose, talk, laugh and discover stories that interest them.

Because reading doesn’t always need to feel like an assignment.

Sometimes it can simply feel like joy.
