At First Tee – Greater Akron, we empower young people to become game changers in life through the game of golf. Our programs go beyond the sport, teaching kids and teens critical life skills such as confidence, perseverance, integrity, and leadership. In 2024 alone, we directly impacted 19,600 kids and teens - providing them with mentorship, character education, and opportunities that help them succeed on and off the course. By combining the values of golf with life-enhancing experiences, we are building the next generation of leaders in our community. We proudly serve youth across Greater Akron, breaking down barriers to the game and ensuring that every child has the chance to learn, grow, and thrive.

Our First Tee coaches do so much more than teach a golf swing. They teach the values that last a lifetime.

They show up with patience, encouragement, and belief in every participant, whether it's a first-time swing or a putt for the win. Because of them, our kids learn that confidence is built one practice at a time, and that how you treat others matters as much as your score.

To every coach who gives their time, energy, and heart to help young people grow on and off the course: thank you. You make a difference that goes far beyond the green. 💚

First Tee – Greater Akron recently hosted Cornerstone Community School at Mud Run Golf Course & Driving Range for their “Fantastic Friday” golf sessions.

Between their two visits, the kids learned what it is to be a game changer and built on their fundamentals by engaging in activities to practice their full swing & putting skills.

With the new school year in full swing, First Tee – Greater Akron hosted McEbright CLC 5th graders from Akron Public Schools for a field trip at Mud Run Golf Course & Driving Range, for their “School Golf Day”.

Students had the opportunity to get outside, experience the game of golf firsthand, and practice skills that extend far beyond the course. Through fun, hands-on activities, they worked on confidence, perseverance, teamwork, and respect—all while learning something new and spending time with their classmates.
