August was a full month at The JADFA House. 💛

Between the people who walked through our doors and those we were able to reach in the community, August brought 1,459 community touchpoints.

We welcomed 844 visitors to The JADFA House, hosted 38 recovery meetings and 8 events and resource groups, launched the very first cohort of our Rooted & Rising Women’s Wellness & Leadership Academy, and helped reach 615 people through our collaborative Back-to-School Giveaway.

But these numbers are more than numbers. They represent people finding connection, support, resources, recovery, community and hope.

We are incredibly grateful for every volunteer, meeting facilitator, community partner, donor and person who continues to walk through our doors and be part of what is happening here.

We’re excited to see what September brings.

Faith. Recovery. Community. 💛🖤

💜 SEPTEMBER IS NATIONAL RECOVERY MONTH 💜

Instead of starting the month by telling you what recovery should look like, we want to hear what recovery actually looks like to YOU.

We know recovery doesn’t come in one package.
It can look like 12-step meetings, MAT, therapy, Faith, Peer support, Treatment, Dharma, SMART, A sponsor.
A counselor, A recovery community Or a combination of all of it.

Sometimes recovery looks like celebrating another year clean and sober & sometimes it looks like somebody making it through today.

At The JADFA House, we aren’t interested in deciding whose recovery is “right.” We’re interested in helping people STAY ALIVE long enough to find what works for them.

So we’re kicking off Recovery Month with a question:

👇 Finish this sentence in the comments:

“Recovery gave me back __________.”

Maybe it gave you your family.
Your health.
Your faith.
Your dignity.
Your freedom.
Your purpose.
Your laughter.
Yourself.

Or maybe you’re just beginning, and you’re still figuring that answer out.

You belong in this conversation too.

Let’s fill these comments with some HOPE. 💜

Because somebody scrolling Facebook today might need to see proof that people really do recover.

Different pathways. Different stories. Same hope.

💜 HAPPY RECOVERY MONTH FROM THE JADFA HOUSE 💜

💜 INTERNATIONAL OVERDOSE AWARENESS DAY | AUGUST 31

Behind every number is a person. A family. A friend. A story that mattered.

According to the CDC, drug overdose deaths in the United States have begun to decline after reaching devastating levels:

2020 — 91,799
2021 — 106,699
2022 — 107,941
2023 — 105,007
2024 — 79,384
2025 — an estimated 69,973*

For three consecutive years, overdose deaths have moved in the right direction. And while we are incredibly grateful to see that progress, nearly 70,000 lives lost in a single year is still nearly 70,000 too many.

At The JADFA House, we love the feel-good parts of what we do. We love hosting fun events, creating opportunities for connection, celebrating recovery and watching people find community.

But the reality of why we do what we do is because this is life or death.

These numbers aren't warm and fuzzy. They aren't the part of recovery work that feels good to talk about. But they are a reality we cannot ignore. Every number represents someone's child, parent, sibling, spouse, friend or loved one.

That is why we continue to raise awareness!

We talk about overdose because awareness can lead to education, connection, resources, recovery and, ultimately, lives saved. We want to see these numbers continue to fall. We want more people to make it home. We want more families to experience recovery instead of loss. And we want every person who is still struggling to know that your story doesn't have to end here.

There are so many wonderful organizations and people in our community already hosting events to recognize Overdose Awareness Day, and rather than host another event that competes with those efforts, we want to help amplify them.

💜 Are you hosting or attending an Overdose Awareness event in our community? Drop the information in the comments so others know where they can go to remember, connect, learn and find support.

Every life matters. Every story matters. And there is always hope.

*2025 is a provisional CDC estimate.

We had such a great afternoon at the Kenmore for Christ Community Picnic! ❤️

It was so beautiful to see churches from across Kenmore come together to love on our community, fellowship with our neighbors, and enjoy being together.

One of the conversations we had today really stuck with us: ministry is important inside the walls of the church, but so much of it is also about what we’re doing outside of those walls.

Today was such a great example of what it looks like to love your neighbor welcoming people, serving alongside one another, building relationships and showing up for our community.

For us, that’s also an opportunity to reflect the love of Christ through the way we treat and care for people, wherever they may be in their own journey.

We’re so grateful for all of the churches, people and organizations that make up Kenmore for Christ and everyone who hand in today’s gathering. It’s always a beautiful thing to see Kenmore come together and we were grateful to attend. ❤️
