💸 Phi Kappa Tau is excited to announce our “Men of Character Scholarship”, a scholarship designed to recognize outstanding individuals who embody the mission of our organization! 💸
We are excited to award these scholarships to men coming into the University of Akron. The application is easy to fill out, and does not require you to join Phi Kappa Tau or any Greek organization on campus! A brief essay and (optionally) a letter of recommendation is all you need to apply.

A legend of University of Akron history, our brother Joseph T. “Ted” Dick has passed away at 96. In 1953, he created Zippy and her legacy that has defined our campus spirit for generations. Ted was also partially, or wholly, responsible for our initiating Bonzo the monkey into the Alpha Phi chapter, the famous ape from Ronald Reagan’s “Bedtime For Bonzo” movie. Happy 73rd birthday Zippy! 🦘 Did you know Zippy was created by an Akron Phi Tau? 73 years ago, a contest was put on by the student council to design a mascot. Joseph “Ted” Dick, ‘54, submitted the very first official design of Zippy. Zippy is also an honorary sister of the chapter as shown from our 2003 composite! 💛💙
