Thank You, Akron! 🙏🎣
A huge thank you to everyone who joined us for the Youth Fishing Clinic! It was wonderful seeing all the excited kids, big smiles, and families enjoying a great day outdoors.
We especially want to thank:

The dedicated Akron Lions Club members who grilled hot dogs and helped run the event smoothly
Colorado Parks and Wildlife (CPW) for their amazing support — especially Robert Emanuel (Washington County), Ryan Abfalter (Morgan County), and Johanna Lange (Yuma County). Thank you for coming out, bringing fishing gear, and helping make the day a success for all the kids!

CPW is bringing a whole trailer full of pre-rigged fishing poles so everyone can join in the fun — even complete beginners!
Whether it’s your first time ever or you’re a seasoned angler, come on out, cast a line, and make some great memories. All skill levels welcome!

🎣 Kids, get ready to reel in some FUN! 🎣
The Akron Lions Club, in conjunction with Colorado Parks and Wildlife, is hosting a Youth Fishing Clinic this weekend!
📅 When: Saturday, May 16, 2026
🕚 Time: 10:00 AM – 1:00 PM
📍 Where: Akron Fishing Pond (approximately 1.5 miles south of Akron on Highway 63)
✅ FREE for kids of ALL ages!
Bring the whole family and make some awesome memories!
We’ll have fishing, learning tips from the pros, hands-on instruction from Colorado Parks and Wildlife, and plenty of smiles.

Come enjoy killer Biscuits and Gravy, great conversation, and a laid-back morning mixer with alumni, families, kids, and Akron locals. The legendary Famous Flamingo Lounge will be open too — no judgment here! 🦩

🎉 What a night! The 1st Annual Akron Lions Club "Mouse Derby - Run for the Cheese" was a huge success!
A Big thank you to all our guests who bought tickets, bid generously on desserts, auction items, mice, and placed exciting race bets. Your support was amazing!
Special thanks to everyone who donated auction items and the money raised from those auction items will go to the victims of the Nebraska Fires. And thank you to all the amazing people who baked and donated the 20 delicious desserts.
A huge thanks to all our volunteers and Lions Club members for setup, decorating, and working so hard to make the event run smoothly. A special shoutout to Akron's own Tuck & Aydan for their fantastic job announcing the races, and to Vickie Keim for her outstanding live auctioneering!
It was a fun-filled evening of great food from Five Star Dining & Grill, drinks from the "Flamingo Lounge", auctions, and thrilling mouse races. The crowd looked fantastic in their Derby hats and outfits and brought nonstop fun, laughter and energy!
Thank you all for making a difference!
