*Monthly podcast "My One Question Is"
*Community art project, "Not Your Mother's Quilting Bee" We are a group of people who want to learn how to expand it to include everyone who is currently not represented. It is our hope that this project can teach all of us how to do better, and freely share our experiences with others. Akron Art Story is a monthly podcast with hosts
Laura Fong and Jesse Hammond: "My One Question Is". Each month has a theme, and a special guest who can share their experience, and support and inform the work we will do together. Akron Art Story is also "Not Your Mother's Quilting Bee": a community art project. The Akron artists/creators community will have an opportunity to come together, invite those who aren't represented, share stories, listen to one another, and create a community quilt, with the guidance and direction of local leaders. We are professors, academics, artists, activists, and creators. We care about people who don't have a seat at the table, a voice in the conversation, or representation in our community. Share your experience, follow us, tune in to the podcast, and join the conversation on social media as we confront the emancipation of quilt-making from a colonial past and envision a future where our community and its leaders represent all of our people. We're here to have conversations, listen, and share our experiences with others. We know this can be uncomfortable, and that from the beginning we must prioritize safety and security for all involved. Not Your Mother's Quilting Bee will be guided by Haudenosaunee Seneca Holy Woman Shianne Eagleheart who will lead this community in ceremony and healing. Things may have to fall apart to come together.
