Happy Summer Breeding Bird Census!

To all of our Area Leaders and counters, THANK YOU! Your passion and dedication have allowed us to contribute essential data for nearly 50 years, providing a snap shot of the species that breed in the Greater Akron area. Long-term data like this allows for institutions to make policy decisions and management plans that help species thrive.

Go find those birds, just like these baby robins on my porch...ohhh you know I'm counting them!

🤠 Oh lawdy we done did it last night! 🤠

Over 80 participants played Bird Trivia at Peninsula Coffee! 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners were awarded prizes from Wild Birds Unlimited and, most importantly, everyone had FUN!

Thank you for being patient with us while we gathered more pens, printed more answer sheets and screamed at you from 3 different areas of the building 😅

We'll be back sometime this summer. Stay tuned for more Bird Trivia at one of our new community gathering places 🍷☕

Happy Earth Day everyone! Here are some actions to take for birds and our planet each and everyday!

✅ Pick up trash
✅ Swap traditional landscaping plants with native plants
✅ VOTE
✅ Keep cats inside
✅ Lights out for migration 11pm - 6am
✅ Plant an oak tree!
✅ Start a compost bin
✅ Call off "sick" for the rest of the day. I mean who isn't sick these days...Instead wander off into the woods, find a nice patch of moss, lay down in it...I mean really get consumed, feel the stress and anxiety physically leave your body as Mother Nature gently reminds you that she's got this and is eternally grateful for eco-warriors like you who fight the good fight. Then stand up, leave that forest, step into your power and get back to it. You've got important and meaningful things to accomplish 🙌
.. Okay that last one was for us.
