Every day at Last Chance Ranch South Carolina, animals who had nowhere else to go are given a safe place to land.

Some arrive hungry. Some arrive scared. Some arrive needing medical care, patience, and time to learn that people can be kind.

Because of your support, they receive nutritious meals, veterinary care, warm beds, enrichment, treats, and the opportunity to heal at their own pace. For some, that journey ends with a loving forever home. For others, the Ranch becomes their forever home.

Many of our inmates came to us after being abandoned, neglected, or placed on euthanasia lists. On the Warden’s watch, they get the second chance they deserve.

🚨 WARDEN’S MEDICAL TRANSPORT NOTICE 🚨

At approximately 0800 hours, Inmate #36, Boogie (AKA Mac), was escorted from the ranch for a scheduled medical procedure.

Before anyone starts rumors in the yard, no… Boogie is not being released. He is simply reporting for a very important appointment involving a veterinarian and a permanent reduction in future bad decisions.

Deputies Jon and AJ volunteered for transport duty and successfully loaded the inmate without incident. No escape attempts were reported. No hostage negotiations were required. Snacks may have been exchanged for cooperation.

Boogie spent the ride enjoying the scenery, supervising his deputies, and pretending he wasn’t nervous.

Upon arrival, the inmate was observed walking into the facility with confidence usually reserved for dogs who have absolutely no idea what’s about to happen.

The Warden would like to thank Deputies Jon and AJ for ensuring safe transport of this distinguished inmate.

Please keep Boogie in your thoughts today as he completes another step on his journey toward becoming a healthy, fully rehabilitated member of society.

🚨 WARDEN’S INCIDENT REPORT 🚨

At approximately 2200 hours, Trustees Chunk ( #12) and Aerial ( #11) staged yet another hostile takeover of the Warden’s sleeping quarters.

The suspects were discovered occupying 97% of the mattress while the Warden was confined to a 3-inch strip along the edge of the bed and facing possible ejection from her own room.

Witnesses report that Chunk was stretched diagonally across the bed “like he pays the mortgage,” while Aerial had positioned herself directly on the pillows, claiming ownership of all premium sleeping real estate.

When ordered to vacate the premises, both inmates pretended to be asleep and refused to cooperate with correctional staff.

Additional violations include:
• Theft of blanket privileges
• Unauthorized snoring
• Excessive cuteness with intent to avoid prosecution
• Conspiracy to leave the Warden with back pain
• Possession of the bed without a valid permit

Disciplinary action was considered but quickly abandoned after both inmates requested belly rubs and offered absolutely no remorse.

Correctional staff attempted to reclaim the bed but were informed that the Warden’s sleeping privileges had been permanently revoked by the inmates.

The Warden is expected to spend another night sleeping in whatever space remains available.

Case Status: CLOSED.

The inmates have won again. 🐾😂

🚨 WARDEN’S REPORT 🚨

Inmate Brownie was caught today enjoying a suspiciously healthy contraband feast consisting of watermelon, bananas, sweet potatoes, and white rice.

After a full investigation, it was determined that:

🍉 The watermelon was “for hydration.”
🍌 The bananas were “for potassium.”
🍠 The sweet potatoes were “part of a balanced rehabilitation program.”
🍚 The rice was “recommended by his attorney.”

Brownie has refused to answer further questions and instead requested seconds.

At Last Chance Ranch South Carolina, our inmates aren’t exactly surviving on prison food… they’re living better than the Warden.

Sentence remains unchanged:

🚨 WARDEN’S NOTICE 🚨

We’d like to clear up a common misconception.

Last Chance Ranch is not a shelter.

We are a sanctuary.

Our inmates are not stacked in rows of cages waiting for a deadline. They live with us. Some claim sofas as their personal property. Others have bedrooms, kitchens, yards, cat towers, or dog houses. Around here, most of our inmates spend far more time out than they do “in.”

We believe animals deserve more than a temporary holding cell while they wait for someone to choose them.

We do things differently.

Every inmate receives complete veterinary care, including vaccinations, spay or neuter services, and the time they need to heal physically and emotionally. We don’t rush our inmates back into society. Many arrive carrying baggage from lives that were unfair, neglected, abused, or simply hard.

Many of the inmates who call the Ranch home today were on a list that would have sent them over the Rainbow Bridge. Through no fault of their own, they had simply run out of time, space, or options.

That will not happen on the Warden’s watch.

When an inmate walks through our gates, they are safe. Whether they stay for a few weeks, a few months, or the rest of their lives, they will be treated with dignity, compassion, and respect while we work to give them the future they deserve.

Our job isn’t to move them out as quickly as possible.

Our job is to make sure they are ready.

And when the time comes for parole, that’s when the real work begins.

We aren’t looking for halfway houses. We aren’t looking for temporary placements. We aren’t looking for “good enough.”

We are looking for forever homes.

That means applications are reviewed carefully. References are checked. Homes are vetted. Sometimes the process takes time. Sometimes the answer is no.

We make no apologies for that.

Because at Last Chance Ranch, the inmates come first.

Every decision we make is based on what is best for them, not what is easiest for us.

So if you’ve applied to adopt, volunteer, foster, or support us, we ask for a little patience and understanding. Behind every application is an animal who has already run out of chances once before.

Our job is to make sure they never have to do that again.

(Although several inmates would like it noted that unlimited treats, couch privileges, and sleeping in the bed should be considered basic constitutional rights.)

🚨 WARDEN’S INTAKE REPORT 🚨

New inmate intake: Sanders.

Picked up roaming the streets of North Augusta in the same territory as known repeat offender Gentry, Sanders arrived at the ranch with a lengthy rap sheet of:
• resisting leashes
• avoiding human interaction
• suspicious side-eye activity
• and possession of zero survival skills indoors.

Like Gentry, Sanders came in feral and unsure of this whole “being loved” program. But after transfer to E Block with Gentry, Delia, Ginger, and Maya, the inmate has already begun serving his sentence of:
🛋 mandatory couch time
📺 supervised Netflix rehabilitation
🍗 homemade prison meals
🐾 and emotional support from fellow inmates

Correctional staff report Sanders is slowly learning that humans may not actually be terrible… especially the ones carrying chicken soup and snacks.

Current sentence:

Jojo is not quite parole eligible yet. She still has one final requirement to complete—her spay appointment. Once that’s behind her, she should be eligible for parole in just a couple of weeks and will be ready to start her new life with a forever family. ❤️

These inmates have completed their rehabilitation programs (or are very close to it) and are hoping the Parole Board approves them for release into loving homes.

Some are cuddle bugs.
Some are professional toy inspectors.
Some have been written up repeatedly for stealing beds, hogging blankets, and demanding extra commissary privileges.

All of them are looking for the same thing: a second chance.
