BROOKGREEN GARDENS FIELD TRIP

To register for our AAG October 14-15th field trip to Brookgreen Gardens and Huntington Beach State Park contact Chris McKeel [email protected] 803-443-8526. The registration deadline is September 14. We will carpool to Murrells Inlet to enjoy the afternoon at Brookgreen Gardens and take part in a Sip and Sculpt class arranged just for us! You will be free to explore the gardens and exhibits the rest of the afternoon. After checking into the Hampton Inn Murrells Inlet, we'll enjoy dinner at Hot Fish Club. On October 15th we will have a hotel breakfast (included), check out and spend the morning at Huntington Beach State Park. Bring your sketchbook, binoculars or camera. The park is one of the best birding sites in the Southeast. There is a two mile trail and a 1/4 mile trail with boardwalks that go out into the salt marsh and freshwater lagoon and of course the beach to enjoy. At noon we will head to Inlet Crab House for lunch before driving home. The $70 sip-and-sculpt fee is due with your registration and covers the Brookgreen admission, Sip & Sculpt class and reimbursement of gas for the drivers; the lodging and the group dinner and lunch costs are paid directly by participants. The hotel we have reserved costs $139 plus taxes per room; you may want to share a room with another participant to reduce costs. Spouses/friends who are not AAG members are welcome to come along for the trip but the Sip and Sculpt class is limited to Guild members.

ALL ARE WELCOME!

Anyone interested in abstract art is welcome to take this abstract class taught by Jessica Welton at the ACA.
Jessica is a Ph.D. In Art History and a fabulist abstract artist. Sign up at Aikencenterforthearts.org.

Express yourself through abstract art! Learn some of the techniques and tools used by abstract artists and put them to practice in this studio class. This class is open to everyone including beginners, experienced artists and realistic artists who want a challenge. Student provides supplies to work in the medium of their choice: bring acrylic paint or any water medium, canvas or other surface and be ready to paint without inhibition or judgment. All skill levels welcome.
