Aiken Sunrise Rotary was honored to welcome Dr. Corey Murphy, Superintendent of Aiken County Public School District, as our guest speaker this morning.

Dr. Murphy shined a light on the wonderful work and exciting progress happening in our public schools, while also candidly addressing some of the challenges facing our students, educators, and schools.

We appreciate his willingness to share his perspective, celebrate the successes, and have an honest conversation about the work still ahead. It was encouraging to hear about the many ways our schools are growing and making a positive difference in the lives of students throughout Aiken County.

Please join the Rotary Club of Aiken Sunrise tomorrow morning as we welcome Dr. Corey Murphy, Superintendent of Aiken County Public Schools.

A dedicated educator with 26 years of experience, Dr. Murphy has served as a teacher, principal, and district leader—building an impressive record of improving student achievement, expanding career and technical education, strengthening school safety, and overseeing major investments in Aiken County’s schools. He is also a first-generation college graduate, a Lieutenant Colonel in the U.S. Army Reserve with more than 23 years of honorable service, and an active leader in our community.

We look forward to hearing Dr. Murphy’s perspective on public education and the future of Aiken County’s students and schools!

🚀 Preparing Students for What’s Next!

We had an exciting and inspiring morning at the Aiken County Career & Technology Center! Principal David Harris gave Aiken Sunrise Rotary an overview of the past, present, and future of Career & Technical Education in Aiken County.

The current Career Center has served students since 1967, and today more than 400 students participate in 18 unique programs designed to prepare them for what comes next—whether that means entering the workforce, enlisting in the military, pursuing a certificate or degree, or becoming an entrepreneur.

Even more exciting, our club is looking forward to touring the new Career & Technology Center currently under construction on the Aiken Technical College campus in spring 2027! 🎓🔧

We’re grateful for the opportunity to learn more about the incredible work happening to prepare Aiken County’s future workforce. 👏
