Creating Lasting Impact

Aiken Sunrise Rotary is excited to look ahead to the 2026–2027 Rotary year under the leadership of President-Elect Rasheem Neloms, who recently shared his vision for the club’s future.

Built around the theme “Creating Lasting Impact,” the coming year will focus on strengthening partnerships with fellow Rotary clubs and community organizations, increasing awareness of Aiken Sunrise Rotary throughout the region, and developing a meaningful county-wide service project that leaves a lasting mark on our community.

A Strong Leadership Team
Rasheem presented a talented group of officers and committee chairs who will work together to advance the club’s mission through service, fellowship, leadership development, and community engagement. From membership growth and fundraising to grants, youth programs, and The Rotary Foundation, every area of the club is supported by dedicated leaders committed to making a difference.

Investing in the Next Generation
A key focus for the coming year will be expanding Rotary’s impact through Interact clubs. Plans are underway to strengthen existing partnerships and potentially grow to five Interact clubs, providing more students with opportunities to develop leadership skills while serving their schools and communities.

Building on a Strong Foundation
Rasheem recognized that Aiken Sunrise Rotary’s future success is made possible by the dedication and accomplishments of those who have come before. Building on years of strong leadership, engaged members, and impactful service projects, the club is well-positioned to reach even greater heights. By harnessing the talents, ideas, and passion of members across all committees, Aiken Sunrise Rotary will continue expanding its impact while creating new opportunities to serve our community and the world.

The future is bright, and we look forward to another year of fellowship, leadership, and Service Above Self.

Aiken Sunrise Rotary is proud to congratulate David Nix and Christa Evans on being recognized as Paul Harris Fellows, one of Rotary International’s highest honors.

The Paul Harris Fellow recognition is awarded to individuals who contribute, or who have contributions made in their name, totaling $1,000 or more to The Rotary Foundation. Named for Rotary founder Paul Harris, this distinction recognizes a commitment to advancing peace, fighting disease, providing clean water, supporting education, growing local economies, and protecting the environment through Rotary’s global humanitarian efforts.

The awards were presented by Rotary Foundation Chair John Fagan, who highlighted the impact that Rotary Foundation giving has on communities both locally and around the world.

David and Christa exemplify Rotary’s motto of Service Above Self through their dedication, leadership, and commitment to making a lasting difference. Their recognition reflects not only their generosity but also their belief in the power of people coming together to create positive change.

Please join us in congratulating David and Christa on this well-deserved achievement!

Rotary in Action: A Club Worth The Drive

This week, President Kandace Caves reflected on a year of service, growth, and impact for Aiken Sunrise Rotary.

Serving Our Community
From supporting Oakwood Windsor Elementary School and preparing for an upcoming backpack drive to providing dignity bags and supporting the Posh Pony Closet at South Aiken High School, our members continue to meet needs throughout Aiken County. Volunteer opportunities such as serving at St. Thaddeus’s Soup kitchen demonstrate our ongoing commitment to helping neighbors in need.

Making a Difference Locally and Globally
Aiken Sunrise Rotary exceeded its Annual Fund goal, contributing more than $14,000 to support Rotary programs and projects around the world. The club also surpassed its PolioPlus giving goal, helping Rotary International move closer to a polio-free world, with only a small number of polio cases remaining globally.

Achieving Meaningful Results
The club has accomplished most of our goals, met its service participation target, completed the service project goal, maintained a strong online presence, and achieved its district conference participation goal. These accomplishments reflect the dedication and engagement of our members.

Investing in Leadership and Service
Members were encouraged to continue to take advantage of Rotary’s leadership development opportunities, training resources, and action groups that help strengthen our ability to serve locally and internationally.

Through collaboration, generosity, and a shared commitment to Service Above Self, Aiken Sunrise Rotary continues to create lasting impact in our community and beyond.

MORNING PROGRAM: Service Above Self means helping our communities be prepared not only for everyday needs, but also for life’s unexpected emergencies. This morning, Aiken Sunrise Rotary was proud to welcome our own Mary Allen, owner of Eagle Corps Essentials, for a powerful and timely program on emergency preparedness.

Mary shared how the first five minutes of a crisis can make all the difference and highlighted the importance of accessible, high-quality trauma and disaster response kits for homes, businesses, schools, landscaping crews, law enforcement, and community organizations. Her thoughtfully designed emergency kits include practical, life-saving tools such as CPR supplies, stop-the-bleed equipment, wound care essentials, and other critical resources that help bridge the gap before first responders arrive.

Thank you, Mary, for using your expertise and passion to help make our community safer, stronger, and better prepared.
