This is Butterscotch. The beautiful, brave, sweet and gentle horse that our Butterscotch was named after. This Butterscotch was owned and loved by my brother-in-law, Dave Markgraf and my sister, Linda Markgraf. Butterscotch worked as a pony horse on the racetrack in NY for over 10 years. In the winter he moved to Florida and carted little kids and beginner riders with the gentleness of a loving parent. He died too soon of a freak accident. Our Butterscotch is named after him because our boy is so sweet and gentle, like the original Butterscotch.

We want to give a big shout-out to our amazing farrier, Challen Ingraham of Ingraham Equine Podiatry. He works with the toughest of cases around the country and has even traveled all the way to Poland to care for a horse with Canker! He has a wealth of knowledge and does a fabulous job of trimming our Mustangs. (Photo is before the trim).

Our horses love to roll in the mud around the water troughs. We have been in a terrible drought for a few months now, so with no rain to play in, they take advantage of the times we dump the water tanks to bleach and scrub them before refilling. But our horses don't have to be clean to train. They enjoy it either way - dirty or not. Here's Bella working on the reverse round pen.

We are highlighting Willow for the last few days, as we are getting ready to put her up for adoption. She is a solid citizen, and such a fun mare to train!

1 week shy of her second birthday, the Onaqui's north herd mare "Harit" gives birth to her first baby surrounded by her mother, grandmother, great grandmother and aunt.

We had a much-needed rainy day yesterday at the rescue. The horses had fun running through the woods into the field.
