Aiken Council of Neighborhoods

Aiken Council of Neighborhoods Aiken Council of Neighborhoods (ACoN) is an umbrella group of representatives from the City of Aiken neighborhoods. After returning to Aiken, Mrs.

Formation of the Aiken Council of Neighborhoods began following a trip to Rock Hill, South Carolina, by Cynthia Mitchell, Shelby & Diane Saunders. The group met with the Rock Hill Council of Neighborhoods to gather information about the organization, how it began and operated. Woodberry then brought together another group of community leaders who traveled to Greenville, South Carolina, to meet wit

h and gather information from their Council. Following the trip to Greenville, Mrs. Woodberry invited the President of the RHCoN and Rock Hill’s Neighborhood Empowerment Coordinator, Terry Windell, to Aiken to meet with Aiken’s community leaders. Shortly after that meeting, a group of approximately ten leaders came together to author the group’s bylaws and elect officers. It was felt that each neighborhood would have a stronger voice if we united and spoke to neighborhood issues as a group with a common purpose rather than speaking as individual neighborhoods. One of our goals is to gain tax exempt status (501 (C) (3)) which will provide a means by which each neighborhood could solicit funds to be used for the betterment of their neighborhood.

🍳♻️ A Greener Way to Dispose of Used Cooking Oil is Here! ♻️🍳

Used cooking oil recycling is now available at all 10 Residential Collection Centers through a partnership with Green Energy Biofuel LLC, headquartered in Warrenville, SC.

Following a successful pilot program launched in February at the Graniteville Collection Center, the program has expanded countywide, making it easier than ever for residents to recycle used cooking oil responsibly.
✅ Available at all 10 Residential Collection Centers
✅ Helps keep grease out of drains, septic systems, and waterways
✅ Supports the production of renewable biofuels
✅ Resident limit: 5 gallons per day

Instead of pouring used cooking oil down the drain or throwing it in the trash, bring it to your nearest Residential Collection Center and help turn waste into a valuable resource.

Together, we can make Aiken County cleaner, greener, and more sustainable for future generations.
