Congratulations to Prodigio MVL and Beatrice Boucher!

The US Lusitano Association congratulates this talented pair on an outstanding weekend at Dressage Bécancour CDI 2*, earning 1st place in all three Level 3 Test 3 classes with a top score of 72.25%!

These results have moved them into a provisional 3rd place in the Equestrian Canada National Rankings and 2nd on the East Coast.

2026 FEI Dressage World Championships Aachen

Whether showcasing their trademark collection in the piaffe and passage or demonstrating the trust and partnership between horse and rider, the Lusitanos competing in Aachen once again showed that the breed belongs at the highest level of international dressage.

We are incredibly proud of the riders, trainers, breeders, and owners who showcased the talent and character of the Lusitano on the world stage!

Key Lusitano Highlights & Scores

Lírio MVL — Ridden by João Torrão (Portugal), Lírio MVL delivered the highest-scoring Lusitano performance in the Grand Prix, earning 71.398%. Their appearance in Aachen marked another milestone in a partnership that began when Lírio was just two years old.

Gladiador do Lis — Ridden by José Antonio García Mena (Spain), Gladiador do Lis represented Spain with an impressive Grand Prix performance, scoring 71.134%.

Marquês dos Cedros — Ridden by Vasco Mira Godinho (Portugal), Marquês dos Cedros delivered a solid Grand Prix test on the opening day of competition, earning 68.680%.

Jorge V.O. — Ridden by Murilo Augusto Machado (Brazil), Jorge V.O. competed in the first group of the championship and scored 65.093% in the Grand Prix.

Miestral D'Ferraria — Ridden by Dara (Indonesia), Miestral D'Ferraria marked a historic World Championship appearance for Indonesia, scoring 63.121% in the Grand Prix.

Hermes — Ridden by Manuel Rodrigues Tavares de Almeida Neto (Brazil), Hermes had the distinction of being the very first horse to enter Aachen's main stadium, officially opening the dressage competition on Day 1. The pair scored 60.761% in the Grand Prix.

USLA Lusitano Conference Postponed Until 2027

Because of the continuing threat posed by New World Screwworm Fly and the resulting uncertainty surrounding horse travel and animal-health requirements, USLA is postponing the USLA Lusitano Conference until 2027. The rescheduled conference will still be held at Haras dos Cavaleiros.

USLA will still host APSL Lusitano Inspections and a clinic with Miguel Ralão at Haras dos Cavaleiros on Saturday and Sunday, September 26–27, 2026.

The 2027 USLA Lusitano Conference is expected to be held on a similar Friday–Sunday weekend at Haras dos Cavaleiros. Mark your calendars now—we look forward to welcoming everyone next year.

What an unforgettable weekend at the ###VII International Lusitano Horse Festival in Lisbon, Portugal!

USLA was proud to be part of this celebration of the Lusitano horse, connecting with breeders, riders, and enthusiasts from around the world. From outstanding competition to meaningful conversations and new connections, the festival was a wonderful reminder of the passion and community that make the Lusitano breed so special.

This photo was taken at the 44th International Lusitano Expo in São Paulo, Brazil, held May 27–29.

During the event, Vitor was honored and named “Ambassador of the Lusitano” by Nuno Eusébio, President of the ABPSL and the Consul General of Portugal in São Paulo, Ambassador Antonio Pedro Rodrigues da Silva.

It was a proud and memorable recognition celebrating his dedication to the Lusitano tradition and community.
