Spotlight: Spectacular Lusitanos of the US & Canada

Poison CCM: From Young Stallion to Team Canada

Poison CCM, a 2019 Lusitano stallion owned by Azores Stables in Ontario, is making his name in North America as a young stallion of great quality and promise.

In May 2026, Poison and rider Pam Esteves finished 2nd overall at Masters level in the Canadian WAWE World Championship Qualifier in Ontario. Riders came from Canada, the US and Portugal, and the judging panel was international. At just 7, Poison was the youngest stallion in the class, with only two years in the discipline.

That result helped earn Pam a place on Canada's first-ever team at the WAWE World Championships in Jerez this September.

Bred in Portugal by Coudelaria Carvalho Matos, Poison was Champion 4-Year-Old at the 2023 International Lusitano Festival and a two-time Gold Medalist in Model & Movements before he began Working Equitation.

Poison’s crowning achievement is earning the prestigious APSL 4-Star Recommended Stallion designation in Model & Movements—a testament to his exceptional conformation, movement, and breed quality.

Congratulations to Pam and the Azores Stables team! Poison CCM stands at stud in Oro Medonte, Ontario.

USLA 2026 APSL Inspection Tour: Results Are In!

Congratulations to the owners and breeders of the 22 Lusitanos inscribed in the APSL Adult Studbook during the 2026 USLA APSL Inspection Tour with APSL judge João Ralão Duarte! Over eight days, the tour visited farms in Texas, Florida, Massachusetts, Québec, California and Tennessee, and 6 stallions and 16 mares were inscribed across the US and Canada.

Thank you to João Ralão Duarte and APSL, to every host farm, and to all the owners, handlers and volunteers who made the tour a success.

Miguel Ralão Duarte Clinic + USLA 2026 APSL Inspection Tour, Day 1!

We're at Haras Dos Cavaleiros () in Magnolia, Texas, where Miguel Ralão Duarte's dressage clinic is running alongside our first APSL inspection stop. During and between rides, Miguel shared a wealth of insight with riders, owners, and auditors alike, bringing out the best in each individual Lusitano. Every horse and rider pair made real, visible progress, and it was a joy to watch. Thank you to our hosts for a warm welcome!

🌎🏆 HISTORY MADE! 🏆🌎
For the very first time in USAWE history, we proudly celebrate our first-ever team to compete at the WAWE World Championship — and what an incredible debut it was!

🇺🇸 8th IN THE WORLD! 🇺🇸

Representing USAWE on the world stage, Kimberlee Barker, Robin Bond, Matt French & Kenton Wright made history as the very first USAWE team to compete at the WAWE World Championship ... and brought home an incredible 8th place finish in the world!

To be the first is something that can never be repeated. And to make that first appearance on the world stage with a Top 10 finish is an achievement that will forever be part of USAWE history.

This result represents so much more than a placing. It represents dedication, passion, countless hours of training, teamwork, sacrifice, and belief, all coming together on the world stage.

🐴 And none of this would have been possible without the amazing horses who partnered with our riders every step of the way. Their talent, heart, trust, and dedication made these goals possible. They truly are the other half of this incredible team.

A special thank you to Chef d’Équipe Julie Alonzo for her leadership and support, and to Team Coach Miguel Undabarrena for his expertise and guidance in preparing our team for the world stage.

To everyone who helped make this historic moment possible — thank you.
