The Matthews Foundation would like to congratulate one of its Board Members, Rashad Roland, on his new position for Orangeburg School District. Rashad is dedicated, always willing to assist, has a heart for all that he does and is talented! Orangeburg is blessed to have gained a valuable gem/asset to its treasure chest!

Orangeburg County School District (OCSD) is pleased to announce the appointment of Eric Rashad Roland as Director of Transportation, bringing more than 13 years of progressive experience in student transportation, operations, and safety to the district.

Roland joins OCSD from Aiken County Public Schools, where he most recently served as Assistant Director of Transportation. His career in student transportation began as a paraeducator and school bus driver before he advanced to Transportation Supervisor and later Assistant Director of Transportation. That progression has provided Roland with firsthand experience at nearly every level of school transportation operations.

“Mr. Roland brings a strong combination of operational experience, leadership and an understanding that transportation is an important part of the educational experience we provide our students each day,” said Dr. Shawn D. Foster, Superintendent of Orangeburg County School District. “Our families entrust us with their children from the moment they step onto one of our buses in the morning until they return home in the afternoon. We take that responsibility seriously. I believe Mr. Roland’s commitment to safety, accountability, and service will make him an important addition to our leadership team, shared Dr. Foster.”

The Matthews Foundation "All That Jazz" annual charity fundraiser was filled with jazz music 🎷 by Preston and Weston, delicious food by the Williams Family, parfait desserts by Tiffany, youth and adult models that were runway ready, and friends, donors and supporters who are helping fulfill The Matthews Foundation Mission of assisting unhoused and displaced students in the Aiken County Public School District through the McKinney Vento program. Deonna AllNatural Brown spoke from a Social Worker perspective of McKinney Vento Program.
As of Friday, August 07, 2026, there are 71 unhoused and displaced students in the Aiken County Public School District. We are entering week 4. Week 1 had 41 students. Our goal is to assist as much as we can to these students through food, clothing and hygiene items.

The Matthews Foundation provides clothing and a gift each CHRISTmas to homeless and displaced students in the Aiken County Public Schools. We also provide food/snacks during Fall and Spring breaks, college scholarships to selected winners that are raised in a single parent household with a minimum 2.5 GPA and essay winner, and assist how we can throughout the year through the McKinney Vento program for homeless students. The Matthews Foundation recently received a grant from the Cedar Creek Ladies Club. This award will further assist schoolchildren in the Aiken County Public School System with the basic necessities. The Matthews Foundation is grateful to God and the Cedar Creek Ladies Club for their support and generosity.

Many thanks to God and the Women United, an affinity group of the United Way, who awarded The Matthews Foundation a grant. This grant will allow The Matthews Foundation to continue providing clothing and a gift to unhoused and displaced schoolchildren within the Aiken County Public School District.
