The 74th Cherry Blossom Festival Court had a wonderful time volunteering at the Hawaiʻi’s Plantation Village‘s 36th Annual Obon Celebration ⛩️🏮👘

We spent the day serving bentos and KC Waffle Dogs, folding origami with attendees, and sharing information about the upcoming 75th Cherry Blossom Festival Queen Contestant application 🪭✨

It was a joy to celebrate Obon, connect with the community, and see so many families and friends come together 🎎🍧

One of our favorite moments was joining everyone for bon dance in the evening. Dancing to songs like “Soda Pop” and 「365日の紙飛行機」 was the perfect way to close out the celebration 💃🌸

Mahalo to Hawaiʻi’s Plantation Village, the organizers, volunteers, and everyone who stopped by to make the day so special!

And we’re so glad we said yes. 🌸🤍

The Cherry Blossom Festival is more than a program — it’s an opportunity to build lifelong friendships, connect with your community, celebrate Japanese culture, and grow in ways you never expected.

Applications for the 75th Cherry Blossom Festival are now open! We can’t wait to meet the next group of contestants.✨

This week the 74th Cherry Blossom Festival Queen and Miss Popularity, General Chair, and HJJCC President visited more of our Festival Sponsors, Diamond Sponsors, Japan Airlines and MANIFEST, and Silver Sponsors, JTB Hawaii and Always a.line, to personally thank them and meet the Court members since their coronation at Festival Ball.

Beyond expressing our gratitude for their generous support of the Festival, these visits were a great opportunity for the sponsors and court members to connect, share stories from the contestants’ journey and court experience so far, and learn more about each sponsor’s history and the meaningful ways they contribute to our community.

Mahalo to Mr. Omura, Janice, Hiro and Genen of Japan Airlines, Marissa and Will of MANIFEST, Tatsuo, Mika, and Rachelle of JTB Hawaii, and Lynn of Always a.line for taking the time to meet with us and for your continued support of the Cherry Blossom Festival. ✨

🌸✨ Join Us for Stars Over the Memory Garden: A Tanabata Celebration ✨🌸

The 74th Cherry Blossom Festival Court invites you to Queen and Miss Congeniality Aime Le’s community service project, Stars Over the Memory Garden, in partnership with the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa Memory Garden.

Inspired by the Japanese tradition of Tanabata (Star Festival), this special evening celebrates wishes, friendship, and community while supporting older adults experiencing memory loss and cognitive decline. Through meaningful intergenerational connection, creativity, and cultural activities, we hope to create a memorable experience for participants, caregivers, volunteers, students, and community members alike.

The 74th Court had the honor of attending the Sister State & Sister City Summit at the Hilton Hawaiian Village Coral Ballroom🌸

The summit brought together leaders, businesses, and community members from Hawaiʻi and Japan to celebrate and strengthen the long-standing partnerships and friendships between our communities 🤝🏼🇯🇵

Throughout the day, we welcomed dignitaries and various VIP guests with leis, networked with local and international organizations, and had the opportunity to go live on KZOO Radio with host Maggie 🗣️🎙️We also loved seeing the adorable prefecture mascots!🍊

We were grateful to meet and take photos with Governor Green, Mayor Blangiardi, Former Governor Ige, visiting mayors from Japan including the Mayor of Sakai City. We were also happy to see our festival sponsors, Japan Airlines Vice President & Regional Manager of the Hawaiʻi Region Mr. Omura and JAL representatives, JTB Hawaiʻi President & CEO Mr. Kubo and JTB representatives, and the KZOO Radio ’Ohana 📸

Mahalo to everyone who made the summit such a meaningful experience for our Court. ✨

📸😆🔙 Flashback Friday to our unforgettable time in Northern California ✨

From welcoming us with so much aloha, to the parade, performances, sisterhood, amazing food, and memories we’ll be talking about for years—our time at the Northern California Cherry Blossom Festival was truly special 🤍

We’re so grateful to everyone who hosted, supported, and celebrated with us throughout the trip. Between the sakura blessings, cultural events, late night laughs, photo booth memories, and moments shared with the NorCal and Nisei Week Courts, this trip became one we’ll always hold close to our hearts 🌸

A little scrapbook of some of our favorite moments ✈️📷🎞️

We spent the late morning and early afternoon at Hale Pulama Mau—talking story, sharing laughs, and enjoying homemade bentos with the residents 🍱 🤍

Adopt-a-Mom, hosted by the Japanese Women’s Society Foundation, is a special tradition created by Mrs. Yajima, centered on caring for and connecting with our kūpuna. This year felt especially meaningful as we also took time to honor her and the legacy she left behind🌸

We were grateful to perform taiko (thank you Kenny Endo & Chizuko Endo of for guiding us 🥁), and to enjoy performances by Vanessa Kop’s Solesisters, Shufu Ladies, Arang Gogo Janggu Drum Dance Team, and Yeung Dak Lion Dance Association🐉

We even got to dance along with the residents, which was definitely a highlight 🫶 So much joy packed into one day 😊

A big thank you to for inviting us to be apart of the special occasion!
