IMUA really started with one question.

My partner was already in private practice, helping about 50 people. She was happy doing what she was doing and had zero interest in building a group practice.

So I asked her:

**“What if we could help 10x more people together?”**

That got her attention.

Then I told her I'd handle the business, operations, and admin so she could focus on the clinical work.

That probably helped too. 😂

We didn't start IMUA because we dreamed about building a big company.

We started because we realized that if we combined what each of us did best, we could help a whole lot more people.

And honestly, that idea still drives what we're building today.

This one from our TikTok Live made me laugh. 😂

“If you haven't messaged me in the last 48–72 hours, you basically don't exist to me anymore.”

Tasha shares what this can look like for her with ADHD—including making plans with someone, not hearing from them for a few days, and basically removing the plans (and the person 😂) from her brain.

Then he texts the morning of like, “Are we still on?”

And her brain has to reload the whole situation. 😂

Sometimes what looks like being forgetful or flaky from the outside can feel very different for the person experiencing it.

Anyone with ADHD relate to this one? 💛

The field needs you. That's not a recruiting slogan — it's just math.

If you added up every licensed provider, every student in training, everyone who could pick up extra hours, there still wouldn't be enough people to meet the need in our community.

That's not a knock on the people already doing this work. It's the honest scope of the gap, and why we need more people willing to step into it. 🌱

School's back in session, and so is the traffic. 🚗

If your brain feels like it's sprinting through the day — what's next, where do I need to be, what did I forget — that's cognitive load. And when we're stuck in task-management mode, we can get so busy getting through the day that we forget to actually experience it.

The fix isn't a magically empty calendar. It's small pauses inside the busy life you already have: two minutes to actually enjoy your coffee, three slow breaths between tasks, phone down for a few minutes with someone you love.

There aren't enough therapists out there — not even close.

Even if you added up every student, every retired clinician, every provider willing to pick up extra hours, it still wouldn't be enough to meet the need in our community.

That's the gap we started IMUA to close. 💙

Something I remind myself of often:

Every number on a healthcare dashboard is a person.

It’s easy to talk about visits, revenue, retention, and growth.

But behind every number is someone who needed help, reached out, and hopefully found the support they needed.

That’s why the mission matters.

We want to grow, but not just for the sake of getting bigger.

We want to grow so we can help more people. 💙

One thing I talk about a lot with providers thinking about private practice is learning to own your calendar.

You may have an amazing team helping with scheduling, reminders, and rescheduling—and that support matters.

But whether you're working in a practice or out on your own, your schedule is ultimately connected to your productivity and income.

Learning to manage your calendar well isn't just about staying organized. It's part of learning how to build a sustainable practice.

You don't have to do everything yourself.

But you should always know what's happening on your calendar. 💙

Sometimes the thing that feels overwhelming isn't bad news.

It's good news.

For many people with ADHD, success can bring more emails, more decisions, more responsibilities, and more stimulation—all at once.

It's okay to feel grateful and overwhelmed at the same time. 💛

Over the years, I've realized IMUA has become something more than what most people think of as a "group practice."

Our goal has never been to simply share office space or a brand. We've wanted to build a place where therapists and post-grads feel supported, valued, and part of a team.

That's why we chose the W2 model, with benefits, health insurance, and a true employment relationship.

It costs more.

To us, taking care of the people who care for others is worth it. 💙

A little while back, a major telehealth platform had a backend change that left a lot of therapists unpaid for about three weeks. Understandably, there was a lot of panic.

We were impacted too — it hurt us. But we weren't caught totally off guard, because we'd already been building toward not relying on any single source for the majority of our revenue.

If you're in private practice: relying too heavily on one payer or platform leaves you vulnerable in ways that are hard to see until something breaks. 🌱
