Our Global Missions & Internships program brings together university students and therapists from across Africa and the U.S. to learn how to custom-fit wheelchairs, provide mobility solutions, and share the love of Jesus through practical service.

“I am a shy person, but I don’t want to use that as an excuse not to serve people… I do it all for Jesus.”

Emma, an intern from Shepherds College, felt nervous and way outside her comfort zone, but she still chose to say yes. ✨

At our International Family Retreat in Brazil, Emma served as a one-on-one buddy for Mikaelley, walking closely with her throughout the week and folding origami cranes as a small welcome gift. As a student with disability herself, Emma knows what it feels like to be overlooked, and that’s exactly why she chose to serve.

Emma used her gifts and creativity to show children with disabilities that they are loved, seen, and never alone.

If you’re a college student wondering how God might use you, even outside of your comfort zone, you have an opportunity this year!

You were created with purpose. And sometimes, the next step is to say yes. 🌍 ✈️

From Thailand to Central America ✈️ 🌏

This year, Joni and Friends interns are heading to Guatemala and El Salvador to serve children and families living with disability. They will walk alongside local churches and use their gifts to bring hope, encouragement, and the love of Jesus to people so often overlooked.

How is God calling you to serve? 💙

At our International Family Retreat in Brazil, Amelia, an intern from Shepherds College, was called to serve as a buddy. As a student with disability herself, Amelia used her gifts to reflect the love of Jesus.

Joni Eareckson Tada reminds us, “No matter what our abilities or disabilities, we are to be God-reflectors. We are to showcase in Whose image we are made.”

This is what it looks like when people with disability are not just welcomed, but joyfully serving. 🙌
