Los Angeles will join Global rally
On December 13–14, people in more than 40 cities across 20+ countries will gather for a coordinated global rally to protest a new and horrifying war crime: Russia’s use of small commercial drones to hunt civilians in Ukraine, particularly in the city of Kherson.
Documented by the United Nations and Human Rights Watch, this tactic marks the first known use of civilian-type drones to track and kill individuals at close range. These attacks—carried out with inexpensive, widely available technology—have been confirmed by the UN as war crimes and crimes against humanity, violating fundamental international protections for civilians.
Kherson’s residents live under constant threat. In addition to drone attacks, the city endures relentless shelling from artillery and missiles. Homes, hospitals, infrastructure, and essential services have been repeatedly damaged or destroyed, forcing civilians to survive in a state of continuous danger.
This is not only a crisis for Ukraine—it is a global warning. Commercial drones designed for photography, agriculture, and emergency response are being repurposed to fly low over cities, surveil civilians in real time, and drop explosives. What is happening in Kherson—the so-called “human safari”—shows how easily this form of warfare can be replicated anywhere, by any actor, at minimal cost.
Recent reports of Russian and unidentified drones violating airspace in Germany, Belgium, the Netherlands, France, and other European countries underline the urgency of international attention and action.
We rally to defend civilian lives, uphold international law, and stop a form of warfare that threatens every city in the world.
