Nobody celebrates this month.
But millions of us live it.
July is Bereaved Parents Month.
A month that most people will never notice.
There won’t be store displays.
There won’t be greeting cards.
There won’t be balloons or celebrations.
But there will be parents quietly carrying the weight of an empty chair, an untouched bedroom, a birthday that should have happened, a laugh they would give anything to hear one more time.
If you’re a bereaved parent, I want you to know something.
Your child is not forgotten.
Their life mattered.
Their love still matters.
And so does yours.
You have survived days you never believed you could survive.
Not because you were strong enough.
Because you loved deeply enough that you had no other choice.
This month, we honor every child whose name still echoes in their parent’s heart.
Whether your loss was weeks ago or decades ago, you are still their parent.
Always.
If you’re comfortable, I’d love for us to fill this space with the names that changed our lives.
Write your child’s first name in the comments.
No explanations.
No timelines.
Just their name.
Let’s remind the world that love doesn’t end because a life did.
And if you see another parent’s child in the comments, pause for a moment and say their name. It may be one of the greatest gifts you give them today.
