Do NOT discard batteries with your regular household trash.

Today’s incident is a good reminder of just how dangerous lithium-ion batteries can be when they’re thrown away improperly. When these batteries are crushed, damaged, or exposed to heat, they can ignite quickly and burn extremely hot.

What to do instead:
Take batteries to a proper recycling or disposal location
Keep damaged or swollen batteries away from anything flammable
Never burn or throw batteries in the trash

This could have easily turned into something much worse. Help us prevent the next one.
