Some people see pantry night for two hours each week.
But what they don’t see are the countless hours behind those two hours. 🩵

They don’t see the driving across counties to pick up donations. The coordination of food rescue. The stocking of shelves at the library and schools. The grant writing late at night after their own families are asleep. The fundraisers, community give-backs, phone calls, emergency requests, and constant planning that ensure when our doors open each Thursday night, our patrons have the food, support, and dignity they deserve.

Behind all of that are five incredible women: Charlotte Parsons, Allison Bressler, Rissa Grisamer, Shantel Johnson, and Sierra Mitchell.

These women juggle jobs, families, busy schedules, and lives already overflowing with responsibilities — yet somehow they continue to pour themselves into this pantry and this community. They carry burdens most people never see. They worry about empty shelves. They celebrate every donation. They cry over hard stories. And week after week, no matter how exhausted they are, they continue to show up.

There are no paychecks for the countless hours. No spotlight for the sacrifices made quietly behind the scenes. Just hearts that refuse to let neighbors go hungry.

The Afton Food Pantry exists because women like this keep choosing compassion over convenience and service over recognition.

Thank you for loving this community so deeply. Thank you for all the unseen work. And thank you for reminding us what true Christlike service looks like. 🩵

What an incredible blessing for our community. 🩵

As part of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints’ initiative to deliver 250 semi loads of food to 250 food banks in honor of 250 years of America, our region received an entire semi load of food to help fight hunger across western Wyoming.

Over 1,400 cases of food were unloaded, sorted, divided between 5 anti-hunger agencies, and loaded back out where they needed to go — with the Afton Food Pantry alone receiving 379 cases of food including pears, rice, peanut butter, flour, pasta, salsa, and so much more.

We are deeply grateful to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints for their continued generosity and support of anti-hunger efforts. This food will help stock shelves, provide staple items for families, and make a lasting impact in our communities in the months ahead.

A huge thank you as well to the National Guard Readiness Center staff for allowing use of the parking lot, Call Ready Mix for the forklift, Hastings for the pallet jack and hauling away pallets, Jason Linford and Sunrise Engineering Staff, Scott Milne, Lance Oviatt, Chad and Bethany Packard, Tim and Stacie Nichols for all their help facilitating this, and every volunteer who showed up ready to work including all the high school classes who were willing to come over. It took a big effort to unload, sort, and distribute this massive donation but we rocked it within 2.5 hours💪

This is what neighbors helping neighbors looks like. 🩵💛

Some people leave a mark on the pantry… and some become part of its heart. 🩵

This week we want to recognize an incredible young woman, Lydia Clove, for putting in the MOST volunteer hours ever completed by a high school student at the Afton Food Pantry. Week after week for over 2 years, almost every single Thursday night, Lydia showed up ready to serve families in our community with kindness, compassion, and a servant’s heart.

Her impact on this pantry cannot be measured in just hours. It’s seen in stocked shelves, smiling patrons, lighter loads for volunteers, and the love she poured into this place over the years. Lydia has truly made a difference in the lives of so many families here in Star Valley.

We were recently honored to nominate Lydia to be recognized by Jennie Gordon, First Lady of Wyoming for her outstanding service and dedication to fighting hunger in Wyoming — a recognition that is so well deserved.

And now, this amazing young lady is headed to MIT! 🎓 We have no doubt she is going to do incredible things in this world, and while we are so excited for her future, Thursday nights at the pantry just won’t feel the same without her.

Thank you, Lydia, for choosing to spend your time serving others. Thank you for your heart, your consistency, and your example. You have left a lasting legacy at the Afton Food Pantry, and we are so proud of you.

Go shine bright, Lydia. Your pantry family will always be cheering you on. 🩵✨
