Le Tour de Black Knight

Le Tour de Black Knight This is the ride across America to raise money to start a middle/high school cycling team in the Greene County area. It seems like a long shot at first.

What started as a dream for adventure develops into an opportunity to support young athletes. The route is 3635 miles from Atlantic to Pacific on the Transamerican bike trail. Across plains, deserts, and mountains I will ride for the teams. I am in decent shape. From Yorktown, VA to San Francisco, CA on a bike in 59 days? This kind of trip requires more than fitness. With unexpected mechanicals, c

amping out as much as possible, and logistical challenges it will require lots of perseverance, commitment, and good luck. The same traits it takes to be an endurance athlete. I hope that I can inspire a generation of young athletes to work hard and follow their dreams. I also hope that this expedition raises awareness for cycling, cross country, and track and field, and rallies the community around our youth and their desire for excellence in academics and athletics. All of the money raised on this ride will be donated to the Chuckey-Doak High School cross country and track team, and to start a youth cycling program in Greene County and eventually the Tri-Cities. Chuckey-Doak High School holds a special place in my heart. I now teach biology at the high school I once attended as a student. In so many of the students, I see the drive and desire for greatness. I hope to do my part to remove obstacles in their path. Many are unaware that universities and colleges offer scholarships for cross country, track, and road/mountain biking. Some of those schools in the Northeast Tennessee include ETSU, King College, Milligan College, and Tusculum. At Chuckey-Doak I have witnessed an increase in students wanting to participate in these sports. Through their hard work, the cross country/track teams were able to raise funds for uniforms by hosting their very own 5K, the annual Black Knight Challenge. They also raised all the money to pay for entry fees for races. Many obstacles still remain. The track team needs a track to run on, and jump pits to jump in. The cycling team will need entry fees, uniforms, and bike repairs. I love to coach these teams of young athletes because they inspire me everyday. With support from the region, I hope we can empower students to achieve their goals.

By the way, my name is Noah. I teach high school biology in Greene County, TN. I coach cross country and track. I would also like to support the formation of a cycling team. I love to experience new things and share my passions with others. Teaching and coaching allows me to do both. I am excited and grateful to have the opportunity to take on this adventure. Thanks for all your support.
