Howdy Members,

​Well, if you haven’t heard there will be a roping at the Hall this weekend, come on out and enjoy the excitement. Friday – Books open at 7 Roping begins at 8; Saturday Books open at 5 Roping begins at 6 – for more information, contact Justin Riley 210-913-8595 or see flyer on Facebook

Our Back-to-school dance will be August 29th from 8-12. Doors will open at 7, Paul Sanchez and Wrangler Country will provide the music.

The Reverse Raffle (September 19th) tickets are available, so plan to come out and support our club!! We will be looking for volunteers to help with many aspects of the Reverse Raffle, for example cooking/decorating/help with the silent and live auctions, if you are interested, please contact Craig Coleman at 210-422-9699. For those of you that are not aware of what a ticket covers it is: 2 people, a meal, a dance (Clint Taft and the Buckwild Band) and all you can drink for the night, and if that’s not enough you even have a chance to win your money back! The first ticket drawn wins $500.00, every 50th ticket drawn wins your money back ($100), the last 3 tickets are winners, and the last ticket could win $2000.00!!!! There are only 225 tickets sold for this event, that’s a good chance to win- better than the lottery!!! Come on out for a fun time and help support Mesquite Hall. There will be a silent and live auction. This is one of our main fund raisers of the year for our club!!!! So don’t lose out, if you haven’t gotten your tickets, check with any of the officers. Doors open at 6 PM, Meal at 6:30 PM, Drawing starts at 7 PM, and the Dance is from 9 PM till 1 AM. We need items for the Live And silent auction!!



​ MEMBERSHIP DUES ARE DUE!!!!!! You have July and August left to bring in new members. New members: Family $80.00 Single $40.00 Regular dues are due for non-Lifetime members of $15.00 per single member (18 and over), and for family membership $30.00. And don’t forget the Maintenance fee is due for every membership. ($20.) You can also mail your dues: Mesquite Trail Drivers Assn., PO Box 38, Adkins, TX 78101. If mailed they need to be postmarked by August 31st. ​

Our 61st anniversary ride was awesome; we had 3 wagons and about 15 riders. It was a beautiful day and a good time to get together for a ride and some fellowship with friends and families. A big thank you goes out to each one of you that was there, helping to make our ride a big success. We rode out of Mesquite and rode to Chris and Kristens for lunch. Chris did an awesome job on the burgers. Rode back to the club, had fried chicken dinner with all the trimmings, which was amazing!! Mike & his crew out did themselves. We had an awesome Band; they played some good music for our dance! Overall, it was a very good day!!!

A big shout out to our former court, they did an amazing job representing our club!!!

Our Easter Egg Hunt had a great turnout. The Easter Bunny was hopping around and there were eggs everywhere!!

Scholarships

Completed scholarship applications were turned in at the April meeting. Good luck to all the applicants, thanks again to chairwoman Kelly Murray and all the scholarship committee members for all your hard work. Winners will be announced at the May meeting.

Nomination of Officers

It is that time of year again, and nominations for your club officers were held at the April meeting. I would like to thank all the members, my family, friends, and officers who have supported me these past years in our endeavors. I truly hope that our new leaders will keep in mind our youth and utilize our facilities to help just as the founding fathers had in mind many years ago. Elections will be at the May meeting, and they will take over at the June meeting. Good luck to all.

Our second playday is Saturday April 18th Remember it is never too late to become a sponsor. We can use buckle and tack sponsors. If you know of someone that may be interested, contact me or an officer. Please remember that these are for ALL riders, experienced or not. We encourage all novice horseback riders to participate. This is a great place to learn with plenty of experienced riders to give you pointers. Also, there is a cake walk, so please bring cakes, pies, cupcakes, cookies etc.

Don’t forget next months’ meeting is the ELECTION for new officers!

DUES ARE DUE in June, July, and August. $50/family (30 dues and 20 maintenance) $35/single member (15 dues and 20 maintenance)

NEW MEMBERS ARE ACCEPTED DURING JUNE, JULY, AND AUGUST also.
