1 Million 4 Anna Foundation Our Foundation made the difficult decision to wind down after eight successful years at the end of 2019. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

The 1 Million 4 Anna Foundation was formed by family and friends in 2012 in loving memory of Anna Basso, who was diagnosed at age 16 in 2009, and bravely and gracefully battled metastatic ewing sarcoma. To everyone who donated in support of our mission we are profoundly grateful
for your support over the years. To all who volunteered, shared their time, loved our community - abundant
thanks and ma

y you receive many blessings in return. To the families we have connected with over the years and with whom we have
shared great joy, tremendous sorrow, triumphs, and infinite hope we are with you
forever. To all mentioned above and to EVERYONE who has been part of this journey, in
any way, and who stayed by our sides so faithfully – our gratitude is infinite. Thank
you for your steadfast love, presence, and support. And thanks, beyond
measure, for remembering and honoring our beloved Anna. With our love and blessings,
David, Carol, and Patrice

Dear friends,

As some of you know, I was invited to join the Board of the newly formed Ewing Sarcoma Institute last fall. Although the Institute itself is new, it’s built on more than twenty years of research, collaboration, and determination to change the future for Ewing sarcoma patients.

I’m truly honored to be part of this extraordinary organization. I believe wholeheartedly in the team and in our mission: to radically improve outcomes for Ewing sarcoma patients by uniting the global community and accelerating the discovery and development of breakthrough treatments.

The Institute has already brought together an exceptional group of Ewing sarcoma researchers and clinicians from around the world—and the momentum is real.

As many of you know, our family entered this fight in 2009 when our beloved Anna was diagnosed. For years, we have hoped and prayed for the kind of scientific progress that could change what’s possible for kids and young adults with this disease. I genuinely believe the Ewing Sarcoma Institute is the catalyst we’ve been waiting for.

The Basso family is helping launch the newly established Ewing Families Research Fund, and we would love for you to join us. To kick things off, we’ve made a $12,120 gift in Anna’s honor—given with hope, gratitude, and a deep belief in what this work can become.

If you remember the 12:12 campaigns from the early days of the 1 Million 4 Anna Foundation, we’d be grateful to have you join us once again. A gift of $12.12—or any amount that feels right—will help jumpstart this fund, and 100% of your donation will go directly to research.

Thank you, as always, for your love, support, and belief in a better future for Ewing families everywhere.

With deep gratitude,
Carol, David, and Patrice, with Anna forever in our hearts.

Clinical Trial for Patients with Ewing Sarcoma

SARC037: A Phase I Study to Evaluate the Safety of Trabectedin in Combination with Irinotecan in Ewing Sarcoma Patients is an open clinical trial for patients with refractory or recurrent Ewing sarcoma. Given it is a phase 1 trial, all patients receive study treatment. To be eligible for the study patients must have the EWS-FLI1 fusion type.

This clinical trial is based on the important laboratory work and findings of Dr. Patrick Grohar. Noting the significant benefits of the dose and timing of the combination of irinotecan and trabectedin in his Ewing mouse model, he has now designed this study to determine if the similar benefit can be achieved in patients with Ewing. By participating in this study, patients with Ewing can be part of testing a new potentially beneficial treatment.

It is currently open at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, Children’s Hospital of Los Angeles, the National Cancer Institute, University of Michigan, and the University of Pennsylvania. Funding is available for patients to travel for to the study site.

If you want to learn more about this study or have any questions, please contact Patrick Grohar, MD, PhD ([email protected]), Principal Investigator for this study. Study details are also available at clinicaltrials.gov (NCT04067115 study identifier for this website).

To all pediatric cancer families ~ Brynn's family & friends are planning a golf tourney ~ and would love to honor your pediatric cancer warrior. Check out all the information below. 💜💛
💜💛

Approximately 1 in 285 children in the U.S. will be diagnosed with cancer before their 20th birthday. Every 3 minutes, somewhere in the world a family hears the devastating words that their child has been diagnosed with cancer. (https://www.acco.org/us-childhood-cancer-statistics/ #:~:text=Each%20year%20in%20the%20U.S.,who%20are%20diagnosed%20with%20cancer.)

Brynn knows she doesn’t fight alone. Spending time on the oncology floor showed her she wasn’t alone. Each diagnosis is different. Each warrior with their own story.

The Battle Brynn Tribute Tent will be set up on the day of the tournament to honor her fellow warriors. This will be a place of reflection for our golfers and volunteers. An opportunity to understand how big this world can be especially from the eyes of a child. Their picture and story will be beautifully displayed throughout the tent area.

Not only do we want their story to be shared but we also want to take this opportunity to send these warriors some support and love from those who participate in the tournament. Someone, either the golfers or volunteers, will play/participate that day in their honor. The person who honors your child that day will also be sending your child their words of encouragement as a small token of their support.

Do you have a warrior in mind for this tribute? Would you like to share their story with us? Please reach out [email protected] and we will coordinate this special moment with you.
