CELEBRATE OUR NATION’S 250th BIRTHDAY with the OLD PETERSBURG ADDISON HISTORICAL SOCIETY (OPAHS) !!!

The OPAHS will continue its speakers program welcoming Park Ranger, Brian Reedy, Site Manager and Chief of Interpretation at the Fort Necessity National Battlefield and Friendship Hill National Historic Site. His presentation and discussion will occur on Saturday, June 6, at 6:30 pm at the Methodist Church Social Hall, in Addison, PA.

Reedy will present the archeological findings from a study conducted in 2023 at Jumonville Glen, site of George Washington’s first military action. The project proved that the site was the opening action of the French and Indian War, a fifteen minute skirmish that changed the world!

This event is free and open to the public.

Old cars,music and food in beautiful historic Addison….And of course the very interesting History House will be open for tours and stories of the Old Pike during the 1800’s! Learn more about the old Somerfield Bridge and the travelers going west! Bring family and friends for a fun filled afternoon!

With everyone sharing their bridge pictures, we wanted to post pics of 2 pieces of the bridge that are never underwater. They were removed for preservation prior to flooding. The builders capstone is currently on display at the Addison Museum, and the Great Crossings plaque is displayed at the Addison Toll House.
