** CURRENT RADAR & ALERTS 3:19 PM 3/7/26 **

A few supercells have developed across western Pennsylvania and are currently severe warned. These are tracking north-northeast and will continue to move into the Pittsburgh region over the next 1 - 3 hours. Expect damaging wind gusts, hail, and a potential spin-up tornado or two. Remember to seek shelter when you are under a warning and when you hear thunder. Let me know if you capture any photos or videos from a safe location!

⚠️ SEVERE WEATHER THIS AFTERNOON / EVENING MARCH 7TH ⚠️

BEST TIMING: After 2 PM. Best chance across western Pennsylvania, storms fall apart and lose intensity in central Pennsylvania.

ZONE 2 (A)- Watching for *SCATTERED* strong to severe thunderstorms. These storms may produce damaging wind gusts and some hail. The tornado threat remains isolated, and if one were to occur, it would likely be low intensity (EF0-EF1) but the Storm Prediction Center mentions the risk for up to EF2 in a very low scenario. Non-severe thunderstorms may still produce gusty winds, lightning, and heavy rainfall. This includes towns/cities such as: Erie, Meadville, Mercer, Butler, Pittsburgh, Washington, Uniontown, and Indiana.

ZONE 1 (B)- Watching for *ISOLATED* strong to severe thunderstorms. These storms may produce strong wind gusts. Non-severe thunderstorms may still produce gusty winds, lightning, and heavy rainfall. This includes towns/cities such as: Wellsboro, Williamsport, State College, Bedford, and Gettysburg.

⚠️ Make sure you have multiple ways to receive severe weather alerts. Be on alert for rapidly changing weather conditions. When you hear thunder, take shelter indoors! ⛈️

Please keep informed on the rising Yough Lake Levels

Tuesday the water level should hit 1424! Sudden 20’+ rise means dock owners should think about securing their docks. There’s still a massive ice sheet that winds could move.

Please be alert, rain and freezing rain on the way.

** HEAVY SNOWFALL RATES **

I am keeping an eye out for two areas to experience heavy snowfall rates of 1 to 2 inches per hour from Sunday morning through the afternoon hours. The first maxima will be across southwestern Pennsylvania associated with the primary low, and a second, larger area across eastern Pennsylvania with very strong frontogenesis. The eastern PA snowfall bands may even produce brief rates over 2 inches per hour. These heavy snowfall rates will cause very low visibility and treacherous travel. Temperatures in the single digits and teens will allow for all roadways and interstates to become snow-covered and snow-packed. DO NOT TRAVEL UNLESS YOU ARE FOR AN EMERGENCY / WORK PURPOSES. It is not worth putting your life in danger. ⚠️❄️

Be winter-ready with DMC SNOW an exclusive provider of commercial snow & ice management across Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and Delaware. From distribution centers and warehouses to office parks, shopping centers, and retail stores, we keep your property clear and business running all season long.

Keep an eye on the weather tonight

The Winter Weather Advisory has been extended for the higher elevations south/east of Pittsburgh where occasional freezing rain/drizzle may lead to light ice accumulations. For those areas AND elsewhere, falling temperature overnight may allow for wet roads (from melting snow) to re-freeze if untreated.

Another season over

🎬 That’s a wrap, folks!

🌊 Our crews pulled the buoys out of Youghiogheny River Lake last week, signifying that the 2025 recreation season is officially in the books. The buoys are going into hibernation for the winter until spring, when they’ll be back to mark swim zones and tell your boat where not to go.

🛶Thanks to everyone who fished, boated, camped, swam, and soaked up the sunshine with us this season. See you (and the buoys) when the water calls again next year!

🗓 (Even if the buoys are away, boaters should observe posted signs and wear a life jacket if they're on the water. Safety doesn't have an off-season.)
