In the spirit of Service and Reverence, members of Boy Scout Troop 586 and Cub Scout Pack 586 came together to assist the Adams Revitalization Committee with a very special 9/11 Remembrance Ceremony. The boys were tasked with handing out candles to community members in attendance. They listened respectfully as their elders shared stories of those who had the bravery and courage to run into danger in the ultimate service of others.
As the darkness settled, Taps rang loud and clear while the American flag was lowered and carefully folded by three local soldiers. In those moments, our scouts stood by, proudly saluting until the flag was carried away. These gestures might seem insignificant to some, but in a world where young men have lost direction, these boys are standing strong in their values, morals and faith - living the Scout Oath and proudly paying honor to their Nation and those who have made it possible for them to be standing here today.
Though most of them were not living to witness the tragedy of 9/11, may they take one very important message away from this meaningful tribute: Have the courage to help others selflessly, at all times.
