Help Friends of the mill,
Our very first cooking class will be on Saturday, June 20 from 1:00-3:00 at The Old Stone mill in Adams.
We will be learning how to make saka saka from Pauline Dongala, our good friend and collaborator at the mill.
Saka saka is made from cassava leaves. Cassava is a staple in The Congo Republic where Pauline learned to cook in her rural village of Bikie from her grandmother and mother on the fire.
She will be using dried cassava leaves from The African store in Pittsfield. We will gather around the outdoor fire, chop vegetables and eat this traditional food with rice.
Pauline show us how to make two versions one will be vegetarian and the other with fish. Saka saka is a special dish made for big celebrations!
This will be part of a series of classes where she will introduce, cassava dough (gluten free), calabash gourd and
other African foods.
Don’t miss this special event and unique cultural exchange.
