We’re so grateful to the OSU Dry Farm Lab...they will be generously donating beautiful organic tomatoes to the Village Food Pantry! 🍅

We love seeing local organizations come together to share resources, support one another, and help good food make its way into our community.

📣 A Heads-Up for Our Saturday Shoppers!

This Saturday, August 22, will be a busy day in Adair Village! There are two community events happening nearby:

👕 The Village Church Annual Clothing Giveaway — 12–4 PM
🏷️ Adair Village Community-Wide Garage Sale — 9 AM–3 PM

Because of these events, we are expecting a higher number of participants shopping at the Food Pantry this Saturday.

If you prefer a quieter shopping experience, we encourage you to visit us on Wednesday from 3:30–6 PM or wait until next Saturday.

If you’re planning to enjoy the clothing giveaway and garage sales, we’d love to see you at the Food Pantry too! We simply ask that you bring a little extra patience and understanding as we may have a busier-than-usual day.

Would you like an easy way to support the Village Food Pantry while putting those empty bottles and cans to good use?

Did you know that the Village Food Pantry participates in the BottleDrop Give program? It’s a simple way to turn your recyclable bottles and cans into support for our pantry and the people we serve.

Here’s how it works:

1. Stop by the Village Food Pantry during our open hours and request a blue BottleDrop bag.

2. Fill the bag with your eligible bottles and cans.

3. Return the filled bag to the pantry or drop it off at any local BottleDrop location.

4. The bag’s sticker connects your donation directly to the Village Food Pantry account.

It’s an easy way to make a difference—one bottle and can at a time! 💙

🌱 SO MUCH FRESH PRODUCE THIS WEEK! 🥕🍎

We are incredibly grateful for the abundance of fresh produce we have available this week! ❤️

Remember, all participants can shop for fresh produce every week, so be sure to stop by and stock up on all the wonderful fruits and vegetables available.

📅 Saturday ⏰ 1:00–3:00 PM

We also have lots of bread and bakery products available! Any extras will be kept in the freezer so they can be enjoyed by our participants throughout the next week.

We are incredibly grateful to all of our local gardeners and businesses who generously donate fresh produce to help keep our pantry stocked with healthy fruits and vegetables.

Your kindness helps ensure that every participant has the opportunity to shop for fresh produce each week.

If you are donating from your backyard garden, we kindly ask that all fruits and vegetables be freshly picked and free from rotten spots or significant damage. Providing high-quality produce helps us offer the very best to the families we serve.

We are sharing this update from the Oregon Health Authority regarding the current Cyclosporiasis outbreak to help keep our community informed.

We continue to monitor the situation closely and have been reassured that the risk remains low in Oregon. The health and safety of our pantry participants is always our highest priority.

We will continue providing a wide variety of fresh produce. As part of our food safety practices, we carefully track and label where all produce comes from and when it is received. This allows us to quickly identify and remove any affected items if a recall or outbreak were to impact Oregon.

We remain committed to providing safe, nutritious food to our community and will continue to share updates as needed.

OHA is reporting two Oregon residents who developed Cyclospora infections that may be linked to the ongoing multistate cyclosporiasis outbreak.

Both individuals traveled to other states involved in the recent nationwide recall of pre-shredded iceberg lettuce associated with the outbreak.

The risk in Oregon continues to be low because the infection isn’t spread between people and the iceberg lettuce has been recalled.

Cyclosporiasis is a parasitic infection that often spreads from contaminated water or food. People who experience symptoms of cyclosporiasis should stay hydrated and contact a health care provider right away.

Help Us Stock Our Pantry with Essential Personal Care Items 💙

At our food pantry, we strive to provide more than just nutritious food. We also do our best to offer basic personal care items that many of our participants need.

Many of these essentials are generously donated by our amazing volunteers, and we're hoping our community can help us keep these shelves stocked.

Our most requested items include: 🧻 Toilet paper 🪥 Toothpaste 🧴 Deodorant 🩷 Feminine hygiene products.
We also gratefully accept other unopened, unexpired personal hygiene items.

Donations can be dropped off anytime in the donation box located at our front door, or you can bring them by when our volunteers are at the pantry: 📅 Wednesdays: 3:00–6:00 p.m. 📅 Saturdays: 12:30–3:00 p.m.

A heartfelt thank you to all of our incredible Food Pantry volunteers! ❤️

Every week, our volunteers make it possible for us to serve our community with care and compassion. Without their dedication, we simply could not provide the level of service our participants rely on.

On average, there are 20 volunteer opportunities each week, including:
• Unloading food deliveries
• Picking up donated produce and bread from local businesses
• Delivering groceries to homebound participants
• Cleaning and organizing the pantry
• Assisting participants as they shop
• Managing the important behind-the-scenes paperwork
• And so much more!

One of the things that makes our volunteer team so special is the wide range of people who give their time. Our volunteers include everyone from dedicated teenagers to active adults in their 80s, all working together to make a difference in the lives of others.

Thank you to each and every volunteer for your time, kindness, and commitment to serving our community. You truly are the heart of our Food Pantry! 💙
