The club hosted Tricia Calver from the ONU Freed Center today at our meeting. Tricia gave us a great overview of the Freed Center's shows for the 2026-27 season and encouraged everyone to consider attending an event this year. We also welcomed a new member - Tom Murphy, Director of the Ada Area Chamber of Commerce. Welcome Tom! We are happy to have you! And thank you Tricia for the interesting program!

Ada Rotary is all set up at Ada's War Memorial Park. Watch for us in the parade at 9:30 and then headed over to the park and try your luck at winning a cane!

Did you catch a glimpse of footage during the Discovery Channel's Shark Week of a great white shark hunting seals in South Africa? Some of last night's footage was filmed by our own Ada Rotary Club member, Sarah Johnson! 🦈

Sarah has been working with a National Geographic-sponsored research team off the coast of Gansbaai, South Africa for several years, and her contributions were a part of last night's show that aired on the Discovery Channel and HBO Max. You can check out her full story in the August issue of the District 6600 Newsletter, due out on 8/7!

At Tuesday's meeting, Martha provided a great program on several United Way of Hardin County in-house programs (Lunch Buddies, Student Leadership, In-school Food Banks and Day of Caring.) We also welcomed back President Josh and heard about his time with the MESA bike tour (plus it was his last meeting as President since a new Rotary year starts in July.) Thanks Josh for leading us this past year! Additionally, we welcomed another scholarship winner, Laenen Ulrey. Laenen graduated from Ada HS and plans to attend ONU in the fall to study Marketing. Congratulations Laenen!

Another exciting moment during our June 23rd meeting was the exchange of "flags" from our club and the Krems-Wachau club in Austria. Ella brought the Krems-Wachau flag to us and will return with our "flag" made from Wilson factory football leather.

Ella will be returning to Austria early July. It's been our utmost pleasure to host Ella during the past year! We'll miss her and wish her all the best back in Austria.
