🌱 This morning, 11 Ada Sunrise Rotary volunteers showed up at the Wintersmith Arboretum and got to work.
We planted 22 native pollinator plants, blanket flower, whorled milkweed, frogfruit, pitcher sage, and more, and sowed a bag of Oklahoma wildflower seeds in a previously barren (yet sunny) area of the arboretum. We also relocated some daffodil bulbs and added canna lilies to the mix.
We excavated a Rotary wheel made of stone blocks and edgers (from a previous project), cleaned it up, and put down mulch around it. It's ready for Phase 2.
We even had a little coffee station!
🌍 Supporting the environment is one of Rotary seven Areas of Focus. The Rotary Foundation enables members and their community allies to take action in protecting and restoring natural resources and enhancing the capacity of communities to support natural resource management and conservation. Planting native species that support pollinators is exactly that: local action with lasting impact. If you'd like to get involved in a future phase of this project, reach out to any Ada Sunrise Rotary member!
