We always have a blast partnering with local authors and opening our farm to the community through Storytime Stables. Thank you Brittany Lee Petish of True Heart Tails for joining us today!

These special events bring stories to life while encouraging literacy, curiosity, and outdoor exploration. There’s something magical about watching children connect books with hands on experiences, animals, and nature.

Thank you to the families and authors who help make these mornings so much fun.

What an incredible week it has been at Camp Own A Pone! Our campers dove headfirst into learning exactly what it takes to own and care for a horse, and the magic really came alive thanks to some amazing professionals from our equine community.

Scott Phillips got things started with a fascinating look into farrier work and hoof care. The excitement kept rolling when Nikki Qualls introduced everyone to the joys of driving using Taylor Nicole Westbrook 's incredible mare, Muffin. To wrap up the educational fun, Jason Cashin came out to give an eye opening lesson on equine dentistry and keeping horses healthy.

It's been a week completely filled with education, big smiles, and unforgettable memories. These kids are heading home with full hearts and a wealth of knowledge to last a lifetime!

We are proud to announce Debbie Commini as our Volunteer of the Month!

Debbie is a dedicated fixture at the farm, bringing consistent care to one of our Saturday students. Her belief in our mission goes far beyond her hours on the property. Thanks to Debbie’s nomination, Hand Hoof and Heart was awarded a generous grant from CarMax, an incredible gift that directly supports our programs.

Debbie’s connection to our mission is deeply personal. Here is what she shared about her experience:

"For many years, I've wanted to get involved with a program that helped people with disabilities by incorporating the use of horses. It was particularly important to me, because my great-nephew was born with Cerebral Palsy and my friend's son has Autism. The 7-year-old boy that I have the privilege to work with almost every Saturday has level 3, non-verbal Autism. To see where he began his journey compared to where he is now is very encouraging. HHH gives hope and a chance for all people to experience their very best life. And each week I feel like I'm gaining more than I give. I leave there with a grateful heart for everything I have. Shout out to the A-Team and our sweet horse Frankie. Thank you, Erin, Ravin, and everyone who has anything to do with HHH for making all of this possible for me and so many others"

Debbie, we are profoundly grateful for your commitment, your advocacy, and your beautiful heart. Thank you for helping us change lives.

Remember that feeling of arriving at camp as a kid? That mix of quiet anticipation in the morning that turns into absolute magic by the afternoon?

Day 1 of Camp All For One 2026 is officially in the books, and it brought all of that nostalgia right back. It was an incredibly successful start, complete with perfect weather and the most beautiful smiles.

The absolute best part of today was watching our returning campers run through the gates, yelling the names of their counselors from last summer. Right alongside them, a whole new group of campers joined the family today. Watching those new faces go from a little nervous to completely at ease, knowing they are starting to see the farm as a second home where they can truly be themselves, is such a proud moment for us.

It is always incredible to watch the day evolve. It starts out quiet as everyone settles in, but by the afternoon, our new and returning campers and counselors are all laughing and bonding like old friends.

Here are a few moments from today. We cannot wait to see what the rest of the week brings.

The garden is waking up and it is a beautiful sight to see. Everywhere you look there are new colors emerging as the flowers bloom and the vegetables start to really take off. It is the most active part of the farm right now.

When you stop by the farm, take a walk through the rows and see what we have growing. We use this space for so much more than just food because it is where the real learning happens. We truly believe that you have to get your hands in the dirt to understand how things work, and we love sharing that experience with anyone who visits. What's growing in your garden right now? Share your pictures in the comments!

What a way to close out the school year. We loved hosting Furtah Prep for a day of hands-on, experiential learning.

Our farm is built to be a living classroom where education comes to life outside of a textbook. When students visit, they dive directly into real-world science and leadership. They don't just see the animals; they learn the biological importance of animal husbandry and clean environments. They don't just visit the horses; they master non-verbal communication, body language, and leadership by guiding them through obstacle courses. Even the garden becomes an interactive lesson in botany and agricultural literacy.

We love inspiring curiosity and critical thinking through real-world application! If you are looking to book a unique, hands-on educational field trip for your school, camp, or youth group, send us a message to learn more about our custom curriculum.

Looking for a simple way to give back and make a real difference at Hand, Hoof and Heart?

We are sharing two wish lists filled with items that help make our programs, summer camps, and daily barn life possible. Things like arts and crafts supplies give our campers creative ways to learn and connect. A large tent would help provide much-needed shade during hot days. Fly spray and fly boots help keep our horses comfortable and protected. First aid supplies help us stay prepared and keep everyone safe.

Every item, big or small, helps us care for our animals, support our participants, and create meaningful days at the farm.

Congratulations to May’s Volunteer of the Month, Ed Schepps!

Ed is the kind of person who quietly steps in wherever he’s needed. From consistently showing up each week for multiple students, to helping build our greenhouse, kissing booth, and so many projects around the farm, his kindness and reliability never go unnoticed. He brings such a sweet energy to the farm and puts his whole heart into building relationships with our students and farmily members alike. We are so lucky to have him here.

Here’s what Ed had to say about being part of the farm:

“I found out about HHH through my wife, Mitzi, last month’s well deserved Volunteer of the Month. I have always loved horses and knew this would be a good fit, but what I didn’t expect was how special the people would be. This magical place has become a haven and a home. Connecting with everyone here, clients, staff, volunteers, and of course the horses, brings me so much joy. It’s impossible not to smile when everyone else is smiling too. Thank you for the honor and for the family.”

Thank you, Ed, for all that you do and all the heart you pour into this place. We appreciate you more than words can say.

Happy Mother’s Day to all the incredible women in our community! We are lucky enough to see motherhood in so many different ways every day. We see it in the moms of our students, the students who are moms themselves, and the many mothers on our volunteer team and staff.

While we try to celebrate you every day, today we want to be extra loud about how much you mean to us. We are so grateful for the warmth, patience, and heart you bring to everything you do. Our community is better because of you.

Every Friday, Isaiah shows up ready to care for our chickens with so much dedication and heart. Because of his commitment as one of our chicken tenders, he earned the honor of naming one of our newest baby chicks and Hummus was the perfect choice.

Watching these connections grow between our students and the animals they care for is one of the most meaningful parts of what we do.
