Happy Flag Day. 14 June 1777 🇺🇸. Happy 250th Birthday Army! “We identify the flag with almost everything we hold dear on earth, peace, security, liberty, our family, our friends, our home… But when we look at our flag and behold it emblazoned with all our rights we must remember that it is equally a symbol of our duties. Every glory that we associate with it is the result of duty done.” — Calvin Coolidge

Monday's dedication marks the official completion of our Acworth Memorial Park work. It is the culmination of 7 years of 100% volunteer hard work and fundraising. The committee is honored to have been in a position to make this park a reality and proud to have this park honor our Acworth veterans and history. Our park recognizes the names of over 350 veterans who have served while being residents of Acworth. The park also honors POW/MIA’s, 9/11, Desert Storm, and our Branch of Services.
We hope folks can join us for our Memorial Day breakfast, Memorial and Dedication ceremony, and live music from our own local Blue Collar Band.

Thank you to all who serve, have served and to those who made the ultimate sacrifice. Thank you to the families that stay behind holding down the fort while supporting, loving and worrying about their soldier. Thank you for our continued freedoms and all that you sacrifice so that we can live in this amazing country! Happy Veterans Day..🇺🇸

I took some time yesterday to do weeding and leaf blowing at the Memorial site. I’ll get up there one more time before the dinner and veteran’s day. Weeding the granite blocks was time consuming (and tough on the knees) but weeding the bricks is much more difficult. The bricks will require a second effort but it looks a lot better now. 😊

Good news is the weeds were all dead and the hay was still in place and some grass did start growing. We will need another seeding next spring.
