📱🇺🇸 **VFW POST 5408 & PARKER’S PUB ARE OFFICIALLY ON TIKTOK!** 🇺🇸📱
Our TikTok page is BRAND NEW, so first and foremost — **please be patient with us.** 😂❤️
I volunteer my time to run our page, and now I’ve added TikTok to the list. On top of volunteering here, I work a full-time job, I have small children I’m taking care of, I have teenagers I’m taking care of, and like everyone else, I have a million things happening in life.
**I am doing my absolute best on here.**
But the truth is, I genuinely LOVE doing it.
I love being able to get on here and spread information. I love making sure our community knows what we’re doing. And I love showing people that VFW Post 5408 is so much more than what many people picture when they hear “VFW.”
Are we going to be professional TikTok influencers?
**Absolutely not. 😂**
Will every video have perfect editing, transitions, and whatever TikTok trend I’m apparently supposed to know that week?
Probably not. 😂
But what I CAN promise you is that it will be **REAL and INFORMATIVE.**
We want to show you what’s happening at VFW Post 5408 and Parker’s Pub. We want you to know about our events, fundraisers, veterans, Auxiliary, community involvement, and everything happening inside these walls that so many people never get to see.
Because there is **SO MUCH MORE happening here than most people realize.**
🇺🇸 **OUR MISSION GOES FAR BEYOND OUR EVENTS.**
We receive calls and messages from veterans and families looking for help with VA assistance, benefits, and resources.
We are working to find more people and resources that can help us connect those veterans with the assistance they need.
We are constantly looking for new ways to raise funds, support our veterans, support our community, and bring our community INTO our Post to meet the incredible people who make it what it is.
And something a lot of people may not know:

This fund allows us to try to help veterans who are desperately in need.
Sometimes life happens. Sometimes a veteran or their family finds themselves in a situation where they simply need someone in their corner.
**That is exactly why this fund matters.**
But in order for us to continue helping, **that fund needs support too.**
If you or your business would like to make a donation to help support our Veteran Relief Fund, please reach out to us. **We can provide you with a donation receipt.**

It may not seem like a huge accomplishment to most people, but we are genuinely SO proud of this next step.
Because every little improvement we’re making has a purpose.
We’re trying to make supporting our Post easier.
We’re trying to remove barriers.
We’re trying to modernize.
We’re trying to make it easier for someone who sees a fundraiser or wants to help a veteran to actually DO IT.
We are trying to bring VFW Post 5408 to a place where it is easy for our community to support us — **because in turn, that makes it easier for US to support our veterans and our community.**
It may just look like “we got Venmo.”
To us, **it’s another step forward.** ❤️🇺🇸
And we’re pretty darn proud of ourselves. 😂
☎️ **WE ALSO KNOW WE HAVE SOME PHONE ISSUES.**
There are times when people call the Post and simply cannot get through. We know it’s frustrating, and we want you to know there are other ways to reach us.

We have multiple people who help monitor and respond to our Facebook messages, and we are usually really good about trying to get back to you.

I can’t promise I’m NOT going to answer your message at 2:00 in the morning while I’m awake taking care of a baby. 😂
If I’m awake, I see it, and I know the answer — I’m probably answering you.
If I DON’T know the answer, I’ll do my best to find someone who does.
Thankfully, I’m also not the only person helping. We have multiple people who genuinely try to make sure questions are answered and people are pointed in the right direction.
Please just remember that many of the people behind those messages are volunteers. We may not always have an immediate answer, but **we will absolutely do our best to help you.**
❤️🤍💙 **AND HERE’S SOMETHING I REALLY WANT OUR COMMUNITY TO KNOW:**

Unless we specifically advertise something as **MEMBERS ONLY**, our events are **OPEN TO THE PUBLIC.**
You do NOT have to be a veteran.
You do NOT have to be a VFW member.
You do NOT have to know somebody.
And you absolutely **DO NOT have to drink alcohol.**
Come into Parker’s Pub and sit down.
Grab a Coke, lemonade, tea, or another non-alcoholic drink.
Come play pool.
Come hang out.
Come meet people.
And most importantly — **come meet our veterans.**
Some of the stories you’ll hear sitting at that bar are stories you simply aren’t going to hear anywhere else.
Some of these men and women have lived incredible lives, served our country, experienced things most of us could never imagine, and have some absolutely amazing stories to tell.
Sit beside them.
Talk to them.
Listen to them.
Get to know them.
Because when I tell you it doesn’t take very long after walking into Parker’s Pub and VFW Post 5408 before **you become family**, I mean that.
🎶 **COME PLAY MUSIC BINGO!**
Music Bingo is honestly one of the FUNNEST nights of the week. Come play, laugh, sing along, and spend an evening with us.
🥩 **COME TO STEAK NIGHT!**
Seriously, y’all… we have some of the BEST steaks. If you haven’t tried Steak Night yet, you are missing out.
🎤 **COME TO KARAOKE!**
Come sing, come listen, or just come hang out.
💰 **BRING THE WHOLE FAMILY TO BINGO!**
We have Bingo **THREE nights a week — Thursday, Saturday, and Sunday — and it is open to ALL AGES.**
We simply ask that children are respectful of the people playing and aren’t overly disruptive during the games.
But we LOVE seeing families come out.
Bring the kids.
Bring Grandma.
Bring your friends.
Bring everybody.
Where else can you have safe, good fun on a Thursday, Saturday, or Sunday with your whole family, actually spend time together, AND have the chance to win some money?!
🎱 **POOL PLAYERS — WE WANT MORE OF YOU!**
One community that has been absolutely AMAZING to VFW Post 5408 is our pool community.
We currently have a **Tuesday night pool league**, and the players who come through our doors have been some of the kindest, most supportive people.
We genuinely LOVE having you guys here, and **we would love to grow our pool community even more.**
We currently have **six pool tables**, and in November those tables will be upgraded to even better tables!
But we need some help growing what we’re doing.
🎱 **WE ARE CURRENTLY LOOKING FOR SOMEONE WHO WOULD BE INTERESTED IN RUNNING POOL TOURNAMENTS AT OUR POST.**
If you have experience running tournaments, currently run tournaments somewhere else, or have been looking for a location where you could start one — **PLEASE reach out to us.**
We would love to sit down, talk about your ideas, and see what we can put together.
We are also actively looking to bring in **MORE POOL LEAGUES.**
Right now, we currently have openings for leagues on:

If you’re a musician or band just getting started, looking for somewhere to play, and you’re willing to donate some of your time to support our Post, **please reach out to us.**
We would love to see if we can get you into our building and onto our calendar.
I also want to be transparent:
**We are a nonprofit and our funds are limited.**
We simply cannot afford huge entertainment budgets.
But we have been SO blessed by musicians who understand what we’re trying to do and have come in, played for us, supported our Post, and brought their own friends and followers through our doors.
And something really special happens when they do.
Someone comes in because they wanted to hear a band.
Then they sit down.
They meet one of our veterans.
They start talking.
They ask what the VFW actually is.
They learn what the **Veterans of Foreign Wars** is.
They learn about our mission.
They learn what it means to our veterans.
They learn why these Posts still matter.
And suddenly, someone who came in to listen to music has had a conversation they may have never had otherwise.
Maybe they come back.
Maybe they tell someone else.
Maybe they become a supporter.
**Those little conversations are making a BIG difference.**
And that’s why community involvement matters so much.
Maybe your contribution isn’t writing a check.
Maybe it’s your music.
Maybe it’s organizing a motorcycle ride.
Maybe it’s bringing your pool league here.
Maybe it’s running a tournament.
Maybe it’s renting our Bingo Hall for your company Christmas party.

Maybe you know of a community need we could help with.
Maybe you have an idea that could help us better serve our veterans.

Every share puts us in front of someone we may have never been able to reach ourselves.

THAT is why getting the word out matters.

Both have been so incredibly gracious about sharing our events, promoting what’s happening at VFW Post 5408 and Parker’s Pub, and helping us get our name and mission in front of more people.
**We see it. And we truly, truly appreciate it.**
When someone takes the time to share one of our events or uses their platform to tell people what we’re doing, it may seem like something small.
To a volunteer-run organization like ours, **IT ISN’T SMALL.**
Every share can bring someone through our doors.
It can help a fundraiser reach more people.
It can introduce someone to our veterans.
It can connect us with someone who wants to volunteer.
It can introduce us to a business, musician, motorcycle group, pool league, or organization that wants to partner with us.
It can even reach a veteran who needs assistance and didn’t know where to turn.
