Camp Gideon Camp Gideon a Nonprofit Organization offering camp and retreat facility located on Lake Allatoona.

Camp Gideon was discovered as an overgrown, abandoned camp on Lake Allatoona. It was formed as a non-profit organization in 1996 and through many years, vision and volunteers has been turned into a beautiful 37-acre camp and retreat center. We offer camp programs for children, practical leadership training for youth, and retreat facilities which are utilized by other organizations throughout the y

ear. Camp Gideon provides assistance through camp programming, leadership training and retreat facility usage to more than 2,800 local individuals yearly. We promote community, volunteerism, leadership, and spiritual growth. Studies show that camp promotes autonomy and resilience, provides a place to belong, strengthens social skills, cultivates relationships and provides affirmation. We believe that every child deserves the opportunity to attend camp, that is why we also provide scholarships to local, "at-risk" children and youth which make up over 25% of our campers.

It’s that time of year again — we are about to kick off our Summer Camp programs THIS Sunday! Our summer staff team arrives for 3 days of intensive training, team bonding, and spiritual preparation. Then on Wednesday, our Campers in Leadership Training (CILT) students arrive for their own 3-day leadership intensive as we prepare ourselves and the facilities to welcome nearly 100 campers each week this summer.

I’m asking you to please join me in prayer as things are being set into motion.

Over the past several weeks, we have experienced what feels like an intense spiritual attack. Our facilities have been hit with one major issue after another, bringing unexpected expenses, stress, and setbacks. Some of the challenges we’ve faced include:

• Problems with our water well
• A huge fallen tree
• Roads being washed out
• The lodge air conditioner failing
• A pest issue that resulted in nearly $8,000 in lost revenue and over $3,000 in treatment expenses
• The hydraulic system on our rock climbing wall breaking down
• A tree limb crashing through the roof of our staff/recreation building
• A roof leak in the office/director’s home

Yet through it all, we are choosing to focus on this truth:

“Whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable — if anything is excellent or praiseworthy — think about such things.” — Philippians 4:8

Our team is determined to keep moving forward in truth.

Even in the middle of these battles, we have watched the Lord faithfully provide — through His people, through unexpected connections, and through the right individuals stepping in to help repair and restore what has been damaged. Some projects are still in progress, but God has already supplied so much of what we needed.

So my prayer request is simply this:

Please pray that our team would continue to walk in a positive, joyful, faith-filled spirit as we press forward through the battle. Pray for strength, unity, protection, wisdom, and peace over every staff member, volunteer, and camper.

We truly believe this summer lives will be changed, souls will be saved, and God’s TRUTH will be proclaimed and received by many at Camp Gideon. Pray that the Spirit of the Lord would powerfully manifest His presence to every person who steps foot on this property this summer.
