The Acworth National Day of Prayer is an annual observance held on the first Thursday of May, providing a public, unified time of prayer for all people across our community. The Acworth Day of Prayer is an annual observance held on the first Thursday of May, inviting people of all faiths to pray for our nation in observance of the National Day of Prayer. The National Day of Prayer was created in 1

952 by a joint resolution of the United States Congress and signed into law by President Harry S. The purpose of the Acworth celebration is to provide a public, unified time of prayer for our community in observance of this nationally recognized day.

It's HERE! We are so excited to come together as a community on Thursday, May 7, 2026, to pray in unity -- in observance of the National Day of Prayer. Join us from 10 - 11 a.m. in front of Acworth City Hall. The rain is going to clear away, and the morning will be beautiful and mild.

EVENT BACKGROUND: The National Day of Prayer is an annual observance held on the first Thursday of May, inviting people of faith to pray for our nation. It was created in 1952 by a joint resolution of the United States Congress and signed into law by President Harry S. Truman. The purpose of the Acworth celebration is to provide a nondenominational, unified public time of prayer for the business community, education community, local government, and civic leaders of Acworth in observance of the National Day of Prayer.

It was a wonderful event this year, honoring the National Day of Prayer by gathering in front of City Hall to pray as a community!

JOIN together with the City of Acworth on Thursday, 5.1.25, 10 - 11 a.m. in front of Acworth City Hall, as Mayor Allegood and other community leaders lead us in prayer. Worship will be led by the North Cobb Christian School Mastery Orchestra and Academy Singers. Don't miss this wonderful morning -- it will be a highlight of your month!!

It's THIS WEEK! If you want to observe the National Day of Prayer this Thursday, 5.2, please join us in front of Acworth City Hall from 10 - 11 a.m. to pray together for our community, nation, and world.

Mayor Tommy Allegood and Todd Clingman will be praying, as will leaders from across our community, including Acworth Chief of Police Jesse Evans; Alderman Tim Houston; Steve Hambrick, Pastor Vintage 242 Church; Tobias Rupp, NCCS student; Stella Newton, Allatoona High School student; Nadia Guthrie, North Cobb High School student.

Hymns and worship will be led by the North Cobb Christian School Mastery Orchestra and Academy Singers, and the National Colors will be presented by the NCCS Honor Guard.

We hope you're all making plans to come pray and be part of this wonderful morning. This year, we have prayers being shared by students from Allatoona High School, North Cobb High School, and North Cobb Christian School, in addition to Mayor Tommy Allegood, Acworth Alderman Tim Houston, Chief of Police Jesse Evans, Pastor of Vintage 242 Church Steve Hambrick, and Head of School of North Cobb Christian School Todd Clingman. Worship will be led by Amy Wallace and the NCCS Academy Singers, as well as the Mastery Orchestra. Don't miss this beautiful time of unity, lifting up our community together!
