🚤 The boats are ready. The raceway is full. Let’s sail!

Our Acton-Boxborough Cub Scout Raingutter Regatta is getting underway at Goward Playground between 9-11am! Come cheer on the racers, build a boat, and kick off a new year of Cub Scout adventures with us.

We also have a gaga pet, basketball, and soccer to entertain your active kids, and you can pop into the library after it’s over to pick up some books (possibly on Pinewood Derby strategy?).

Friends and Cub Scout-curious families are always welcome. See you at the starting line! ⛵

🚤 The Countdown Is On!

Only a week and a half until our Acton-Boxborough Cub Scout Raingutter Regatta! On Saturday, August 29, from 9:00 to 11:00 AM, Goward Playground behind the Acton Memorial Library will turn into a raceway as Scouts build their own pool noodle sailboats and put them to the test.

The best part? You don't need to bring anything but your imagination. We'll have all the materials ready, and every Scout and sibling will build a boat before racing it down the course. Plus we will have other games and some certificates & stickers to give away!

If you've been wondering what Cub Scouts is all about, this is one of our favorite events to share with new families. It's free, it's low pressure, and it's a great chance to meet Scouts from Packs 1, 26, and 70 while enjoying a fun morning outside.

❤️ It Takes a Village

Every campfire, hike, rocket launch, Pinewood Derby, pack meeting, and den adventure happens because someone quietly said, "I'll help." To every volunteer, parent, grandparent, older sibling, and leader who gives their time to make these experiences possible, we thank you.

Your efforts create memories that our Scouts will carry with them for years. We appreciate you more than you know.

🤝 Friends You Didn't Expect

One of the fun things about Cub Scouts is watching friendships form between kids who probably never would have met otherwise.

Different schools. Different neighborhoods. Different grades.

Then they're sitting together in a canoe, hiking the same trail, performing community service, and racing at the Pinewood Derby like they've known each other forever.

That's one of our favorite parts of this program.

🚤 Raingutter Regatta Pack Kickoff Is Almost Here!

Summer may be winding down, but we're just getting started.

Our Raingutter Regatta is right around the corner on August 29th from 9am-11am at the Goward Playground behind the Acton Memorial Library, and we are doing an all-in-one version using pool noodles! We can't wait to see the creative sailboats, friendly competition, and lots of cheering from the sidelines.

If your Scout has never raced before, don't worry as we will construct everything at the event. Every boat will have it's own flair, and every Scout (and sibling) gets to be part of the fun.

Even better, this is a great event to bring a friend who's curious about Cub Scouts. We'd love to meet them!

🎒 A New School Year Brings New Beginnings

This fall is going to look a little different for many families in Acton and Boxborough.

Some children will be walking into a brand new school for the first time because of the district's new elementary school assignments. That can be exciting, but it can also feel a little uncertain.

One thing we love about Cub Scouts is that it brings kids together from across our community. Whether your Scout is seeing familiar classmates or making brand new friends this fall, they'll still have a place where they can hike together, build together, laugh together, and grow together.

Sometimes it's nice to have something that stays familiar while everything else is changing. We're looking forward to another great year together!

🏕️ A Place to Belong

One of the best things about Cub Scouts is that friendships don't end when the school bell rings.

Kids from different neighborhoods and different schools end up hiking the same trails, sitting around the same campfire, cheering each other on, and discovering they have a lot more in common than they realized.

As summer winds down and everyone starts thinking about a new school year, we're grateful for a community where kids can simply be kids and families can slow down long enough to enjoy the adventure together.

☀️ Summer Isn't Over Yet!!

Some of the best summer memories don't come from checking things off a bucket list. They happen when you're reeling in your first fish, paddling across a quiet lake, hiking a trail with friends, or laughing over a picnic after a long bike ride.

This summer, Cub Scouts from Acton and Boxborough have been busy making memories at Treasure Valley Scout Reservation and around our local parks. We've seen Scouts try archery, BB guns, boating, swimming, fishing, nature observation, hiking, and plenty of time just enjoying the outdoors together.
