We are so close to getting our beloved Gardner field back! The binder for paving is being laid today. Next is the poured rubber play surface. We are thrilled to have a more accessible play space in the village. Take a look from this morning before the pavers arrived..

If you look closely here, you can see one of the first structures partially assembled. Some of the equipment is made of Robinia wood, a very sturdy wood known for its stability and rot resistance.

Good morning! We’d like to make a quick update.

We’re feeling extra lucky 🍀 for the tremendous efforts bringing this park construction process closer to fruition. These efforts culminated this week in the final approval for a permit granted by the Conservation Commission, the site construction Bid is out, with construction expected to begin when the ground thaws. We noticed exceptional work and would like to thank the Town of Acton for their fastidious efforts on this project, particularly our dedicated state legislators Senator Jamie Eldridge and Representative Dan Sena, the Town Manager John Mangiaratti, the Director of Public Works Director Corey York, the Select Board and also specifically the liaison David Martin, the Conservation Commission who expertly protect the Towns natural resources, the Community Preservation Commission, the Acton Water District, West Acton Villageworks, and Stamski and Mcnary.

The project is the result of thoughtful work by so many folks in town, thank you all! It’s now staked, see below, and we look forward to documenting the continued construction process.

Good evening. We have received a lot of questions about the park, so we put together what we hope is a comprehensive and transparent update on where things stand at this time.

Would you look at this amazing metal arch designed for us by a great local artisan!?!?!? We're SO excited to see this at the park!

I’m excited to finally share the completed Gardner Field Arch! This piece was commissioned by the Acton Recreation Department, and will be placed on stone blocks at the entrance to Gardner Field, in Acton, MA. This is the largest piece I have ever made, measuring 11’2” long, 5’2” tall and weighs 117lbs. It took me about three weeks to make and is is my first public installation. Looking forward to seeing it in place!

Brief update: park materials have been delivered! Excavation will start on Monday by the folks at Rhino Construction who deserve a huge thank you for generously donating their time and equipment.

And, Bear Bones Sculpture has begun work on the iron gate!

Things are coming together and we hope to keep you updated along the way.

A big thanks to Select Board member Jim Snyder-Grant for organizing and to our volunteers who helped cut down and clean up the burning bush along the entrance to the park yesterday! We had so many volunteers we got done earlier than expected. 😄😄

Things are moving quickly now, as we get ready for excavation and the installation of the new playground equipment!
