The Acton Historical Society (300 Main St Acton) will host a visit of a 1770s British cannon at its
OPEN HOUSE October 6th from 2-5 pm.
The cannon was cast between 1760 and 1770. It was acquired by a local militia company in May of 1775. The ship on which it was located became mired in the mud at Chelsea Creek. This cannon and 3 others taken from the ship were later used by American forces to fight off the British at Bunker Hill.
Come and see this"survivor" and learn about its discovery to restoration. In addition, explore the events leading up to Crown Resistance Day.
