York District Cub Scout Camp

Our annual Maine Shooting Sports Event is RIGHT around the corner- and we still have some spaces available for teams!

Join us at Camp Hinds on September 5th, for a day of fun and fellowship, and help support our amazing Scouting program!!

Grab some friends or co-workers to sponsor a team to compete in this fun shooting event. Or you can sign up individually and we will put you on a team with other individual shooters. The event will feature shooting clays stations and pistol shooting stations, and once all the stations are done we'll wrap up the event with a steak and lobster dinner, and some tasty beverages to go along with it!

We're also looking for more volunteers to help staff the event. Volunteers will spend the day at Camp Hinds helping with the clay stations or with other event tasks, and once the competition is done, you are also invited to join us for the steak and lobster dinner

Big Announcement for York District!!

We will have a Cub Day Camp and we have a great location.

Thank you to Buxton & Hollis Rod & Gun Club for allowing us the generous use of your space the week of July 08 through July 12, 2024.

More information to come on the program, but now we have a location, we need energetic volunteers to join in on the fun.

Day Camp is a youth's first major experience in the Scouting Program with their peers, under the guidance of trained and caring adult volunteer leaders. Every Pack and Scout is encouraged to attend day camp this summer. Come along this summer and enjoy all that day camp has to offer: ADVENTURE, GROWTH, AND FUN for all Cub Scouts trekking the trail towards becoming a future Scout.

ALL INCOMING TIGERS MUST HAVE A PARENT OR GUARDIAN WITH THEM DURING CAMP

A Message from Miss Leah:

Greetings Camp Nutter Day Camp families and staff members!

I hope that the new year has started off well for all of you. Before we get much further into the year, I wanted to share some news with you.

After 7 years of serving as the Camp Director for Camp Nutter Day Camp, I have decided to step down from that role. I have absolutely loved my time as Camp Director, and having the opportunity to spend a week with our amazing cub campers and staff members, and I wish I could continue in the role. However, the time demands and commitments that come with my job as a District Executive mean that I am unable to devote as much time and energy to Day Camp as I'd like to and it isn't fair to our campers that I can't give 110%.
Fortunately, I will still be involved with Day Camp, in the role of Staff Adviser, and plan on spending as much time as possible at camp with our campers.

Since I am stepping down, that means we will need someone to fill the role of Day Camp Director for York District Day Camp and also for Casco Bay Day Camp. If you are interested in filling either (or both) of these roles, or in being a Day Camp Director for all 4 of our Day Camps, please complete the application found here:

Adult Fun Day at Camp Hinds!! Who's going???

CALLING ALL ADULTS- Come Join us for Adult Fun Day at Camp Hinds!!

On August 13th we will be holding an Adult Fun Day at Camp Hinds. We want adults to come spend a day at camp with us and experience some of the fun opportunities our scouts (and non-scout youth) get to experience during Summer Camp.

Adult Fun Day is open to all adults, and will feature shooting sports activities, boating, outdoor cooking and more!

Good Morning York District Day Camp Families and Friends!!! I hope you are all doing well.
I have had quite a few people reach out asking about the status of Day Camp, since Camp Nutter has been sold. Here's the scoop:

*Yes, we are still holding a day Camp in York District. It will be July 11-15. You can register at: https://scoutingevent.com/218-2022_Day_Camp

*No, unfortunately we will not be able to hold it at the Camp Nutter location this year (we're hoping to be able to be back there next summer).

*This year's day camp will be held at the Acton Fairgrounds>

*We are currently planning to run it just like our past day camps, except that we once again won't be able to offer swimming or boating, since there is no body of water at the fairgrounds. Like last year, we will make sure to have "water play" and opportunities for our campers to get wet and cool down, it just won't be swimming.

*Day camp is open to ALL youth between the ages of 6-10, not just to cub scouts.

*As always, we are looking for adults and responsible teenagers who might be willing to volunteer to be part of our camp staff for the week. You can email Leah at [email protected] if you'd like more information.

Hope this answers most of the questions out there, and I hope to see many of our past friends, and many new friends at camp this summer!
